We wanted to add some more context here! Our goal is to always share the reality of full time RV life - the good and the bad. However, we wanted to make sure that the “blame” for some of the bumps in the road we’ve been having isn’t misplaced. And, we aren’t sponsored or associated with Brinkley in any way other than being owners, but we do feel obligated to say that we don’t feel that Brinkley has done anything wrong in these situations we’ve been having. I think we’ve shown in our previous videos when working with them that we’ve had a great experience. This video we were not working with Brinkley directly becuase they allow their owners us to use mobile techs for repairs instead of forcing us to take it to an associated dealer for repairs, which is really great. However, that means they don’t have much control over the mobile techs and how responsive they are. Also, in my mind, the fault for the brakes goes totally to Lippert. As a trusted manufacturer of brakes in the RV industry, Brinkley shouldn’t have had to worry about them failing. There hasn’t been any resistance from Brinkley in taking care of our issues, but when you’re coordinating repairs while living in your RV, it just gets complicated, no matter what RV you have. 🙂

For your AC issues, we experienced icing up on our units before, especially in high humid areas. One of the keys to preventing this is to NOT cycle the fan with the compressor. Set your fan to run continuously, on high if possible, and set the thermostat to allow the AC compressor to cycle on and off on temperature. If you don’t allow the fan to run during compressor non-run times, then there is no air flow to remove the condensed moisture on your coils and that condensate ends up freezing after several cycles. Hope this corrects or helps your issues. PS - we take delivery of our Brinkley Z3100 on Friday and love following you guys. We look forward to every video you guys put out.
@wildrvlife Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! The fan thing was one of the first suggestions we tried (keeping it on high) and it did help extend the time before it froze up but still eventually froze up anyways. I do wonder if the elevation and humidity had something to do with it as well, with us being in Colorado. However. I especially think the living room one shouldn’t be freezing up with the freeze sensor and all. But also, yay!! Hope you enjoy it! Clearly we’ve had a few kinks to work out but are overall really liking it!

@traci6353 ай бұрын
If you turn your thermostat down too low, it will ice up every time. AC units can only be turned so low before icing. Stay around 72 - 74 range and you should be fine.

RMNP is amazing, but it has definitely gotten too crowded (which is why they require those time slot reservations in peak hours). We used to hike there all the time since we're local, but it's just too big a time commitment these days for a day hike. I'm glad you got to see the elk - they're pretty magnificent this time of year since their rutting season is approaching.

Quick suggestion about freezing ACs.... open up the covers and make sure #1: the units are at proper torque spec for the tightness. And #2: that your baffels aren't messed up and you're just recirculating that cold air in a loop. I've seen these two things cause the most problems. HVAC tape is easy to come up and works wonders.

Thanks for another fine video of fulltime RV life. When there's an issue that strands you, it can be really stressful. We've been there, too (and it was a brake issue). It's still worth it to be free to roam. I don't know what brand of AC units you have so any suggestion I make may not apply, but here are a couple of suggestions based upon our Coleman Mach 3 units. Check that the temperature probe is 1 to 1.5 inches above the lower border of the cooling unit and pointed in a downward direction. That's so that any moisture runs off the probe. Also, don't run the AC on auto. Instead, run it on high or low continuously. These things may help. That said, we still have to run our units on High Fan once a day to defrost them when it's really hot and they are running a lot. Safe journey to you both!

@@wildrvlife So far (2+ years) the Coleman's have been pretty good. Alliance Paradigms come with 3 units standard (one ducted). We travel all over like you do and some places this year have been pretty darn hot. I clean the coils every 4-6 months and check the insulation regularly. We clean the filters every 2 weeks (or so). That said, it isn't easy to keep these rigs cool. A house cools much better and stays that way longer. It's just part of life on the road as you know. In any case, I hope you get your Furrion units sorted out soon. All the best to you folks!

It pulls pretty similarly but we are at a similar weight and using the same hitch. I haven’t noticed any real difference. The design, materials, layout etc are really great. The exterior is very nice and sleek, LOVE the windows. We have a few issues as you may have seen, but they’ve all been with the 3rd party components (like the A/Cs), which many manufacturers use. I saw the exact same brake issue on another KZbin channel but with a different RV brand fifth wheel. I tried to find that video to forward to you but couldn't find it. Apparently the axle manufacturer has not fixed the problem of sensor wires in the brake drums coming loose and shorting out causing the brakes to fail. I did find several videos showing brake wires that run inside the axle tube breaking/shorting out causing major issues. I guess this continues to be a problem.
@wildrvlife Жыл бұрын
Yes!! That is exactly the problem and we saw where it was a problem a while back too for the brake manufacturer and I think they had fixed it but must have unfixed it for a bit 😅 the techs said that the new version they installed had much heavier duty wires and clips so hopefully it’ll be good now

Excellent video. At least you are keeping your spirits up with the repair work. Lol. Hope you guys get all the kinks worked out.

Hi guys about your ac units freezing up. I have friends they have the same brand units you have they had the same problem check the freeze sender on the evap coil easy to get to there’s was on the bottom left side there rv tech relocated it up top left side about the fifth coil up they were told to run on high cool auto they did replace sender with new one it’s been two months now in hot weather and no more freeze ups now like everything you can’t buy just the sender you have to buy the whole kit sender comes with the control panel just unplug it. You may get it under warranty Hope this helps you guys out Would like to meet you guys some day. Give the dogs a pat on the head for me
@wildrvlife Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the tips! Ours is kind of in the lower left side so maybe we’ll try moving it up and see what happens! Will pass along the pats to the dogs! 😁

Thank goodness that’s taken care of. I know how that is. My brakes went out on my current trip because of driving in rain for five hours I suspected as water poured out of outlet. Seems pigtail from rig was faulty so replaced it. Will see in three days I guess. In Middlebury, Indiana right now and visiting the Brinkley factory for a tour on Tuesday. Really looking forward to it. Will have to ask about the brake recall when I’m there. Tell them Craig and Victoria sent me? 😉 Hope your future travels are uneventful as far as rig or truck problems, that is always a pain!
@wildrvlife Жыл бұрын
Hope that your fix works and you’ve got brakes the next time you drive!! And yay! Have so much fun! We’re hoping we can swing by for a tour at the factory as well. The brake recall has already been fixed, none of the new rigs have to worry about it. We actually have unit “101” so there have been quite a few updates already made since ours. Now that we’ve gotten the initial kinks worked out, I think we’ve got some smooth sailing in our future. Overall we are really enjoying the new rig!

@@wildrvlife just an FYI on their tours. You have to book them online and the groups are small. Four groups of two. I believe Monday-Thursday at 2:00pm Eastern.

Hey guys... I do not know what to say... You guys have more problems than you can shake a stick at.. However you have got patience that goes beyond the Call of Duty.... I would have been every which way but the right way... Please .. Put some WD40 or something on your door... Every time you open it or close it...chills goes up-and-down my back.... Thank you for the video... You have heard it before... But you guys are the cutest couple... Stay safe...J&A

Lol we have been meaning to try and figure out how to prevent the door from doing that! It’s not the hinges but seems to be related to the auto-close thing. Thank you so much for always joining us on our adventures!

Have you tried electrical grease on the plug pins?……helps to have a good connection……just on the pins and inside the holes on the other plug end

Once we got the recall stuff done, everything went back to working perfectly so we haven’t had to do anything else extra yet, but will keep that in mind just in case!

Since you're spending so much time in my "back yard" my favorite RV park is Paradise on the river in Estes Park. An awesome tiny RV park but your rig is way too big for that place....

I think someone else told us about that place!! And also told us we were too big to fit! 😆

I’m surprised that Brinkley isn’t working with you better since you are You Tubers.
@wildrvlife Жыл бұрын
It’s not really Brinkley we had any issues with. We had to work with a local RV tech to get the brake job done, so we were at the mercy of local availability. We could have also taken it to the Brinkley dealer in Colorado Springs but they were scheduling a month out and we would have had to drop the RV off, which isn’t ideal. Brinkley is covering all the issues under warranty of course, but it’s just a matter of being able to get the parts in and have someone available to do the work which isn’t always easy when all the repair shops and people are often booking pretty far out.

lol we’ve been in the land of RV repairs for a long time 🤣 but with the old rig we were usually doing it ourself is the only difference! (And the repairs on the old rig were also always worse, like our back wall separating….so we’ll take a brake job any day I suppose!)
