Currently working full time in Insurance Consulting, and studying for IFoA professional exams to become a qualified actuary. I studied Physical Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge 2017-2020, and specialised in Astrophysics.

Random question because I was curious I looked at both Trinity and Jesus. They both offer Engineering for example so what is the difference between Trinity college and Jesus college and deciding which to go to? I guess I’m also not used to the colleges inside the university thing either. In the United States you typically have a university and it is one entity no smaller colleges inside of the bigger university. You have your degree program such as math physics engineering etc.

@@nicolad8822 it was really just a question about what is the difference in each college because they seemingly offer the same things. I used engineering because both offered it. I am not interested in attending there I was just curious.

All students of the same degree e.g. engineering attend the same lectures, tutorials etc regardless of college. The Colleges is more of a community: where you live, places to eat, socialise and meet new people, provide pastoral and academic support. Trinity and Jesus for example admit people from all courses.

At the University of Washington in Seattle [50,000 students] there are some 14 distinct Colleges and Schools under the University Umbrella. Most US Universities are organized this way. • College of Arts & Sciences • College of Built Environments • College of Education • College of Engineering • College of the Environment • Evans School of Public Policy & Governance • Foster School of Business • Information School • School of Dentistry • School of Law • School of Medicine • School of Nursing • School of Pharmacy • School of Public Health • School of Social Work

@@robbrewer3861 right but each one is separate there aren’t two colleges that offer engineering it is the one. Where as Cambridge has two different colleges offering engineering.
