Thank you for showing it at this camera angle. Most of the swings I have seen online are always from the same two angles. The shift in prospective reality helped me to see the hand positions.

I struggle with this same issue (shallow to start the downswing but then get steep) and you’re the only instructor I’ve seen who perfectly notices this, but also has the solution to fix it. Great job Chris!

Just want to say that I really appreciate the first person POV reference points that you highlighted because I have been struggling with shallowing the club. 1. Hands hang above balls of feet at address 2. Hands above alignment club at delivery 3. club angled behind hands at delivery position. Those reference points really helped provide checkpoints to getting on the right path. You should consider a second camera to highlight DTL as well with your excellent instructions. All the best.

Just one more thing I'de like to add..I think I've been through thousands of videos of instructors trying to teach the swing but in all honesty @ChrisRyanGolf is the ONLY one that can break down and explain anything he is trying to teach perfectly. I'm sure there are many great instructors out there but not everyone can explain with words what exactly needs to be done the way Chris does.

This lesson is crazy good. I am about a 12 with the ability to go low once in a very blue moon. I hit balls every night in my yard and over the last couple of years have gone full on to get better. I feel that much of my swing is right but something was missing. For a day anyways this was an instant game changer in so many ways. I no longer feel stuck, ball flight is way different and the contact with ball is just wow. I am not a video junky although I like a lot of Chris’s videos. I think all instructors are after the common goal of helping us improve with only the message delivery being different.

I was looking at slow motion videos and noticed that you can see through the pro's arms in that "delivery" position from a down the line POV. and I was like why wasn't mine like that? I was like my right elbow's down, but the club head is going out to in still. This video gave me more understanding now. Thank you Chris!

Great video getting the hands in the correct position in the downswing with the club alignment. Shaufflee does a drill for the downswing/transition, where he stamps his left foot to signal the shallowing the club. Your tip with hitting the bag on the downswing, gives you a much better feeling than just trying to drop the hands/arms. If you watch all the pros from the rear view, they all do this. If you can master this, you’re on the right path to great golf. The other thing is the right knee has to win the race to the ball before the club head does.

This reminds me a bit of Hogan’s drill minus the leg/body action. I encourage the viewer to watch the video where Hogan politely demonstrates how the lower body drives the downswing. Hogan doesn’t talk about it directly in the footage, but one can see as he makes the “real” swing, that late in the downswing his forearms unfold downward in front of his body… bringing his hands in closer to the body… tipping the club late which leads to the squaring of the club. It’s also a powerful move that creates that image of the tremendous lag he had.

Yeah I’ve had similar comments like this previously in regards to Mike, having watched some of his content o believe we are quite similar in what we coach, the timing is key, he likes the hands to move inwards a little earlier but it’s a very similar move I think

If I had this lesson I'd have it video recorded so I can see it all from the outside (just like this video). The problem with swing coaching you don't see this of yourself the same manner and walk away back to old habits. Best to review and review yourself the video then take it to the range.

This is a much better way to describe a correct inside club path. Everyone is talking about this idea of “putting your hands in your back pocket” For someone who needs to feel something that’s real and can *actually* happen, the problem is that you can’t *actually* put your hands in your pocket during a swing……sorry to break the news to everyone. Hahaha.

Meanwhile Brison Dechambeau says think like putting your hands in your right pocket in the downswing which is the complete opposite … there is no sport where coaches are saying more contradicting things
@ChrisRyanGolf5 ай бұрын
Me and Bryson are saying exactly the same things, he is talking about how the arms should work relative to the torso, they should move down and off the body, I completely agree with that, but in this case his arms were working down and behind his body, he just needed some tweaking. Often the info syncs up but the understanding of they info is what creates the confusion
@Neutronity5 ай бұрын
Thank you for the reply, rewatching with that in mind I think I understand better what you mean. Obviously the short metaphor of BD saying hands in the right pocket in a short video clip might also have been missing some key informations sorry for comparing that into the video here, but I also totally agree on the transportation of understanding universally being an extremely difficult task especially online
@JimmyVespe5 ай бұрын
I would say just the opposite. Get his transition right and that will fix his steepness on the way down. While I wouldn’t say never monkey around with the hands to fix something in 99% of the cases it is fix things from the ground up. If he transitioned correctly the club would never tip over from where he had it.
@ChrisRyanGolf5 ай бұрын
We got pretty good results this way, have him more that what he was after when he came in, but I’d never ever claim that my way is the best or the only way, just how I see it. His lead arm externally rotated too early in the downswing, which part of the transition do you see influencing the lead arm?
