Don’t let this mislead you, any, ANY job in food service will have you busting your ass ten ways to Sunday, covered in sweat and nastiness while you either multitask at the speed of light or desperately try to look busy because there’s no customers and if the managers catch you with nothing to do they’ll give you a task that’s way worse than anything you could’ve come up with on your own. And I like my job and the people there, it’s a thousand times harder if your coworkers/managers/customers are jerks. Expect to bend over backwards for fairly low pay.

As a dishwasher myself I gotta say it beats being a server. I don't like people so being in a dish pit and dealing with dirty plates and pans is way better than dealing with customers.

As a dishwasher for 8 years. Only nasty thing is taking out the trash at the end of the night. Or taking out trash in a rainy night and you see maggots as you open the dumpster.😂
@fancyclown6863
@fancyclown6863 8 ай бұрын
One of my worst mistakes was not paying attention while grabbing the trash right after it rained. So trash water drenched my socks and shoes. I then had to spend the next 2 hours finishing then closing.

There are worse jobs out there. I'm a dishwasher for a boat company, we may have 300+ people on any given day, almost everyday in the summer. Could be worse though.

@@yafetadhanom7535 AlI gotta say is that if your feet hurts for standing, you’re gonna have a tough time. Also make sure to do the big ones first, like pots and trays so you have space. Also make sure to check your chemicals, because if they run out, the dishes are not gonna be clean and they will return it to you. Also make sure no straws and sticks get in the drain because its gonna clog. I’m only part time but I just worked 5 days straight and my feet hurts a lot, now I have no work for a week lol. Also be prepared for sundays because its usually the busiest day for restaurants.

Yup, mines broken time shift . Even if you get paid for 8 hours you still need to be present at the workspace for 12 hours. I'm currently working at a mall and we stay for 12 hours but only work and get payed for 8, no overtime pay because we get 4 hour breaks in total, I'd say it's not that bad because we get to take a nap.

@AimeeH-wh4vy I guess that fuel and housing being historically way cheaper in the new world are likely why minimum wage has generally been well below Western Europe. Restaurants rarely pay experienced chefs over $25 unless it's a premium gourmet restaurant.
