Wow, I've been learning German since June. Not very consistently, but I'm surprised I could understand some of what they said and at such speech speed despite my very basic and lacking German so far. It is motivation to continue learning.

I really appreciate students pointed out that they can choose subjects that they are not majoring in. I graduated from US college too and I really liked how I can organize my own schedule and select profs I like. I still remember when I studied in Europe, all courses are already set, and was a bit hard for me to organize. European Universities specialize its subjects with 3 years program. The difference I found between Europe and US was US master's programs have more flexibility in admission whereas German Universities require students to major in specific subjects for admission. Go to Arizona. They party a lot too

Oh, yeah, yeah, the best thing about the American universities is the ''Balance'', you have a lot of opportunities to do parties, ''Work hard, play hard''... And then get into tens of thousands of dollars in debt (per capita on average EVERY American student is more than 30.000 $ in debt). So much for the life balance!

@Rainerjgs
@Rainerjgs 4 жыл бұрын

It is so true what the female professor said about giving critical feedback. The USA touts 'free speech', BUT one has to cloak the negative in positive. In Germany, it's okay to say negative opinions and no one gets upset.

Ya we’ve got a big problem with colleges indoctrinating our youth to become progressives that don’t want free speech, they have a problem with hate speech, think it should be illegal. Not progressive, regressive.

California is, the most politically correct state in the Union. It is much healthier to allow criticism that is not dressed up: be polite of course, but it is much healthier to be direct, not allow freedom of speech to be curtailed (and usually forbidden) by PC rules...

Sie möchten was mitnehmen.
