I saw Laura in concert here in the UK a couple of years ago, and she was wonderful. She did a CD signing after the concert and came across as a gracious, delightful lady. I remember that she was a great favourite of John Peel, he frequently played tracks from her "Not the Tremblin' Kind" album on his late night radio show on the BBC.
