As someone who gets way too caught up in ideas of good art versus bad art and the idea that to be seen as skilled you have to do realism all the time and other toxic art ideologies, watching your vlogs have been such a great change of pace for me. It's so nice to see your creative process and your exploration of styles and materials and your whole attitude is so encouraging to me. Really glad I subscribed when I found you and I hope more people do. You are one of the best representations of what art should be - freedom, fun, joy, expression, and growth. I love your house painting, the way you apply the paint is rich and textured. You are making me want to get my oils out now. The art challenge with your friends is a great idea. I am doing something similar with a group of mine and we are currently doing an altered book round robin and that is such fun, Skyping has been a blessing during our isolation. That tube to store your oil paints looks like a great idea! Anyway, I hope you get to 1,000 subscribers soon, I made it today, yay!

Watching this video made me go to my art room to start painting 😃 I can relate a lot to feeling in an art rut too. Definitely watching other artists, such as yourself, helps to motivate to do art! I also really like your little art challenge with the ladies. I'm not imaginative either, and challenges like inktober and such would be so difficult for me. I tried it before, but I stopped after 3-4 drawings (which were not done on their corresponding days). I was having difficulty fitting in work, life errands, social life and completing pieces on their designated day. I'm somewhat a perfectionist, so I will revisit many pieces and not bother uploading to ig until I'm truly satisfied, given up completely or just don't post at all 😅 thank you for your video, and much love from canada 🇨🇦🖤

Yes! It helps you see things that you normally wouldn’t see. You kind of have to just try it to understand but it’s a GREAT TOOL! Maybe I’ll address it in a future video. Glad you are enjoying the videos!!!!

This was the top featured comment when I went to watch the amazing Sandi, and I thought I’d add my two cents. Seeing a mirrored image of your work shows imbalances and maybe even mistakes that are more hidden when viewed the intended way. You can get the same effect by snapping a picture and flipping the picture horizontally on your phone. I just recently did this with a face I was drawing and realized one of the eyes wasn’t shaped right. If you can make a piece that looks good in both the intended viewing direction, and a mirror/horizontally flipped image, you’ve made a well balanced piece of art with minimal unintended drawing mistakes. 🙂

Well, they're intimidating to a lot of people!!! I'm going to do a video at some point (keep putting it off for some reason) on everything you need to get started in oils. Maybe that will be a helpful video for you.
