What a lovely, fun lady! The Norman Gunston interview is a classic piece of Aussie history, still so funny to watch today. Wow, a little shocked about Sally's comments on Penny Marshall, Rob Reiner's then wife. Talk about insecurity and arrogance! I was/am a big fan of Lavern & Shirley but never did like Penny, like her even less now after this interview.

Most memorable part of the Sally Struthers-Norman Gunston interview for me in particular would be this: *Sally:* _"... you ought to use an electric razor."_ *Norman:* _"I do."_ Garry McDonald, besides his character of Norman Gunston, is also known for his appearances on The Aunty Jack Show, and a regular role as Arthur Beare in Mother & Son. ☺

She once famously said: "If a man is pictured chopping off a woman's breast, it only gets an R-rating, but if, God forbid, a man is pictured kissing a woman's breast, it gets an X-rating. Why is violence more acceptable than tenderness?" Still relevant after all these years 🤔

The producers of All in the Family figured out halfway through the run that Sally could do comedy. Suddenly Gloria had funny quirks comparable to her TV parents. Watch the episode where Gloria is upset because Mike makes her feel dumb and she wants to go back to school. It nicely showcases her talents.

A shame no mention was made that "All In The Family" was a VERY Americanized version of Johnny Speight's "Til Death Us Do Part", a UK black and white sitcom starring Warren Mitchell as the bigoted Alf Garnet. Check 'em out on KZbin. The original and BEST.

@@anthonybrunotheodd from what she's saying, the producers of the show wanted to paint a picture of the program being quite low budget although that wasn't the case at all. Keeping it on the down-low in this case indicates that this was strictly something between the show and its producers. In other words, the show was not struggling on a budget at all but they wanted to look that way.

I can ground break by digging a new hole, then I can ground break again by digging s hole next to it. If the new hole is a poor rendition of the first hole I would never say it is ground breaking.
