The reason why I love Zack's work especially comic book, because he gave an epic superhero take with high class visual style. That's not something we can see anywhere these days. My favorite scene of his was the scene from BvS, "Must there be a Superman?" scene. We can see how people refers to Superman as a savior, as a figure of god, but at the same time, we see how conflictive Clark was, how he's being misinterpreted by human being as a god while he's just a kid who's just trying to do the right thing

People complain about his movies then turn around and call trash like end game the way a superhero movie should be made. Endgame as a movie was absolute garbage loaded with nostalgia and fan fare material. The Russo bros were asked to explain how was Captain America able to lift and control Thor’s hammer. Their answer was very simple, we just thought the fans would think it was cool. Zack respects the material and most critics say he respects it too much. You can’t please everybody but to me Zacks and Nolan’s and now also Todd Phillips comic book based superhero movies are the best in the comic book movie genre. Throw Raimi in there as well cuz I loved the first 2 Spider-Man movies.

@@tonysoto8949 Zack made me love and relate to Superman. And MoS is my favourite DCEU movie and BvS,ZSJL is up there too. But I'm a bit biased to MoS because of Zack's true vision of the film. The other two got severly butchered and the ZSJL was made a non canon filmunless we continue to make it the canon verison). His trilogy on Superman introducing justice league made me realize how impactful and relatable these characters can be. I personally had Raimi spiderman as my favourite Superhero also that I was grown up watching him and marvel. But Man of Steel just took that mantle from me and made Superman my favourite character.

I feel like I finally have the words to explain the film making technique of Snyder that allows him to create the most jaw dropping visuals in the history of comic book films! He's one of the few that seems to understand proper contrast and coloring. Of coarse I gotta knock the competition (the MCU) because their movies are the visually blandest thing going on. A video exploring The Batman's cinematography made a great point that modern blockbusters seem to want the images to be as clean as possible, almost plastic-y in nature. There's no dirtying up the frame. Low key lighting, great contrast, proper coloring, altering depth of focus, changing frame rates in the same shot.....none of these things are employed by MCU film makers. They almost seem to just want to get the necessary shot on camera without wanting to do anything to make it artful, comparitively speaking. Sad to see really, as I'm learning more and more about what can be done to make a shot more artful. I guess if I had to list some of my favorite Snyder shots: 1. Jor El coming out of the tunnel to see Kryptonian ships exploding 2. Superman's double punch on Zod 3. Birds eye view of Bruce driving through destroyed Metropolis while scout ship flies overhead 4. Basically all the shots of the Waynes's deaths 5. Superman saving people montage 6. Superman looking on as Doomsday is about to go off again 7. Superman/Doomsday beam clash that WandaVision later copied 8. Arthur having wave splashing on his face on the dock 9. Victor jumping over opposing player on football field 10. The whole flashback invasion in JL 11. Superman eyeing Barry down at the statue during JL v Superman fight 12. Black suit Superman doing Christ pose in atmosphere with sun in front of him 13. Batmobile turning left and parademon hitting it's side to almost flip it over in slow motion 14. Flash's finale run 15. Barry saving Iris 16. In BvS, Knightmare Batman looking out over land to see Omega symbol, plus whole scene! 17. Aquaman throwing trident at parademon 18. Darkseid, Desaad, and Granny walking down long hallway Along with numerous shots in Watchmen and 300. Now that I know how to put it in words, I wish he wouldn't have gone for such a tight and narrow window for focus depth on Army of the Dead. That's what I didn't like visually about the film. It was almost like what he did on some previous films, but this time on steroids. I commend him for doing something technically difficult, though.

I'm sorry, I can't stand any of the filmmaking in the MCU; tv at the movies nonsense.
@kevrulz062 жыл бұрын
@@21stcenturyhiphop All their films since TFA (being the first one shot digitally) have the same overall look. Stans will say that it's meant to visually connect the films, but why'd they have to look so bland? There is proof that Disney/Marvel know how to make stylistic choices. I was dumbfounded and pleasantly surprised by the cinematic look and the general visuals of Valkyrie's flashback with Hela. It then pissed me off, knowing that they knew how to be creative and have style and only chose to make that one scene look amazing when the whole film should've looked like that! Their indoor shots, especially during conversations are so blandly lit and grayed out, it really does look as Patrick H. Willems called it years ago, "muddy concrete". And it got far worse starting with CW onward. Seeing the evidence of the plot points, camera shots, and entire sequences that the MCU has pulled from previously released DCEU films, I wouldn't be surprised if they were trying to copy Snyder's visual style. But, based on what we've gotten, maybe someone ought to make a video titled, "MCU Lighting and Coloring: How to Fail at Snyder's DCEU". lol
@21stcenturyhiphop2 жыл бұрын
@@kevrulz06 Yeah, I pointed out to some folks how the MCU filmmakers have been blantently copying Snyder's superhero films/asthetic, but no one will acknowledge it because of the reputation of the MCU vs. the DCEU films(which are way more interesting, btw). This isn't some hipster stance by me; I've hated the Marvel films since Iron Man 2. Downey Jr. is fantastic, though.
@kevrulz062 жыл бұрын
@@21stcenturyhiphop Well, we're in agreement. I 100% know what you mean when you say no one will hear you. I can't tell you how many times I've freely offered people the evidence that DC's movies are far better made than Marvel's and they just reply with, "I don't need to see YOUR evidence". Or, they refuse to see the evidence and write it off because they think a certain way about the source, like Film Gob. It only matters whether the evidence is true or not. But, the reputation of the more beloved franchise is hard to overcome with people.

But, he definitely created his own style, his own voice, and some of the images he directed (like in 300 or JL Snyder cut) are absolutely iconic. 😎❤🔥🎥

I almost like every shot he create in his films, because I just love his shooting style. It's hard for me to find someone else who have the same shooting style. God, I love this director so much!

That's why James Cameron called him as visual storyteller. Even the movie has bad writing, he still can do great visual.

Probably my favorite shot by Zack Snyder is the heatvision clash between Superman and Doomsday in 'Batman v. Superman'.

The shallow dof sure mixes things up. Funny how studiobinder beeped the outro.

It's great to see some of his films like 'Watchmen' and "legend of the Guardians' that felt visually ahead of their time when released.

We have an Indian director Prashanth neel who copies his style but never gave a single credit to Zack or his movies.

I understand having issues with writing or story in his films, but you would have to hate film as a whole to not appreciate what he does visually. Nobody shoots like Zack does, instantly recognizable.

I honestly never understand the hate against snyder movie writings. Because I swear that Snyder movie dialogues are like If Willem Shakespeare made fantasy stories ALL THE TIME.

I'm a great fan of Zack Snyder and this form of visual story telling. I try to immitate what he does in most of my works. I tried with with my animated short, wake ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/pousfXawpbyshck ) - Do you think I've achieved or came close? - Jeff

Zack Snyder's fan base is massive, they're loyal and following him everywhere he goes. his dark tone visual and slowmo style is masterpiece, it's create drmatic scenes. i love all of his works and continue follow his projects and can't wait to see 'Rebel Moon'. Originally he wrote the script for Star Wars, since they rejected, he create his own sci-fi universe on Netflix.

Being a fan of shots that are wide angle in Snyder's films, the ZSJL aspect ratio was a bit jarring for me. The ultra focused character shots didn't quite do it for me personally with that aspect ratio. The wide angle shots generally convey an all-encompassing nature, makes you feel small and watching a lot of the world you want to be immersed in but Snyder's ZSJL and Army kinda made me feel otherwise. His wife angle shots are just beautiful.
