I used to live and work on one of these beasts. She is a extraordinary work of engineering by man. You have done a wonderful job of replicating it. The detail is amazing. I worked on the antennas port and starboard below the SPY 1 arrays. I also was stationed on a couple of Spruance Class destroyers that I would love to see built this well.

As someone who used to serve on board that ship, I love some of the small details that you kept. Even our official model in the schools show the Stack funnels installed. Funny story about the stars and stripes on the 5" gun. Inspectors tried to claim that it wasn't authorized, which resulted in a full argument over the official instruction...which we won.
@Evil.Totoro7 ай бұрын
Thanks for answering the reason the 5 inch gun was painted like that. I tried asking some ai hat bots, and they had no clue, saying it must have been temporary or, the information is unknown.

I will tell you... you can find some fine model builders in Korea! Yourself and some other fellow countrymen of yours, are THE BEST in the whole world! Greetings from Brazil. 내가 말해줄게... 한국에서 괜찮은 모델 빌더를 찾을 수 있을거야! 당신 자신과 당신의 다른 동포들은 전 세계에서 최고입니다! 브라질에서의 인사 I probably made a lot of mistakes...

My father actually worked at Bath Iron Works where the first ship of the class, The Areligh Burke DDG-51 herself was made. This one doesnt have the Burkes second CIWS mount in the front given its a later flight but overall very amazing to see one of these ships.

I thought of making a Ticonderoga next, but I visited the USS John McCain back in 2000, Okinawa, it was very impressive and seemed thoughtfully designed. I followed the news of the USS Cole bombing and while looking at Tico models last week I thought "it can wait, I'm getting a Burke first. I want a USS Cole on the wall. It's historic." 🐻👩🎨🇺🇸/👁️\🇷🇺

Not sure why they paint 'below the waterline' for you on some models, that is one of the easiest things to paint in modelling, i always do matte rattle can and block it with tape and spray away an come back and do the grey the same way.. it doesn't look as good as what you got going on or air brush in general, but it works pretty well.. trick is, really fast passes with the paint.

I machined the actual main housing for the high speed reduction gearing to be installed in ARLEIGH BURKE class destroyers. I worked on the R D team that built the prototype gearing while at GE GEAR plant in Lynn MASS in mid 80s. I always wanted to see a DDG in real life
