This is a dumb thing to say. Terminator 1 used rear projection, which is what green screen is.
@bigtechisbigbrother86903 жыл бұрын
@@jackthegreek6092 That's incorrect. Rear projection and green screen compositing are two different techniques. Rear projection is where actors are filmed in front of a screen with images projected on it, so the whole scene can be captured in-camera. Green screen (AKA chroma-key) involves filming actors or other objects on a literal green or blue screen which, when the film is developed, appears clear, so the image can then be composited onto another background in post production. And why bring up T1 when we're talking about T2?

There are some minor flaws but nothing that detracts from the experience. That’s to be expected in such a massive undertaking. The most obvious one is the windshield falling out of the tow truck after it jumps the overpass but it reappears back in place after the cut. It wasn’t caught until after the final editing which bothered James Cameron for a long time so he had it fixed for the latest 4K transfer/release.

I was like he is supposed to take on Arnie? Him? This wee runt? I am pleased to say how wrong I was. He was such a great villain, formidable vicious, and menacing. Terminator 2 officially turns 30 today! This is still a prime example of how sequels should be made James Cameron delivers one of his best films in the franchise Interesting how now we are 8 years away from the apocalyptic future the movie opens up on Incredible action, a worthy villain by Robert Patrick, lots of human depth mixing with artificial intelligence, and Linda Hamilton gives a knockout performance as Sarah Connor, she actually came up with the idea for the film with Cameron Edward Furlong's first role and only decent performance as John Connor, it's a shame he went off the bender for years The CGI effects for the T-1000 are incredible for early 90s film, actually won an Oscar for visual effects I'm still amazed Linda Hamilton had a twin sister this entire time The most expensive film made at the time and it fuled the success of Guns n Roses song You Could Be Mine I agree since the ending got changed it's a pick your poison kind of thing The movies message of hope is still relevant today; we make our own future we just have to fight for it

Today a lot of movie concepts and stories are dependant of CGI effects. And when it needs special effects, it can't work without CGI because it has to come along the other modern movies. Hand made effects had something unique and powerful that made them authentic, real, but it was expensive and had its limits. CGI won't ever get the same power and energy, but it offered limitless creativity and a way to built a movie on an infinite scale (like Marvel movies for example).

I had no idea that the terminator getting shot in the police station while he walks toward them was entirely animatronic. I've seen this movie so many times, and that one slipped vy me eveelry time. I always thought the bullet hits were CGI, and it was actually Arnold walking. Holy crap!

Same here! In fact, so many of the effects which I thought were "very good CGI, still holds up 30 years later" were the real thing! It's mind-blowing!:)

One of those rare moments where the sequel is EVEN BETTER than the original...though the original is also pretty epic. The rest, meh.
@alfreddreamer90973 жыл бұрын
True. It is very rare that a sequel is even better. I think probably would rank both movies as pretty much even in my opinion, but I can understand why you would consider Terminator 2 better.

I hate how the sequels undermines the importance of the story in T2... Makes it feel like it was all for nothing for no good reason.
@jaredgarcia86383 жыл бұрын
@@Biring1 T1 and T2 were meant to be a completed story. 3, Genysis, and Dark Fate basically dragged the films to the ground. Salvation was a suto prequel in my opinion. It may not be perfect but it was at least a decent flick
@Logan9123 жыл бұрын
@@Biring1 I can kinda get it for T3 and Salvation given that SkyNet would have to happen regardless for everything to work. It may not be canon, but I think of it as T3’s judgment day being the “original” way SkyNet takes over until they send the first terminator back which accelerates Judgment Day until they fix it in T2, and Salvation just shows how John meets Kyle. The other two movies are just bad fanfiction put on screen.
@danielanderson83223 жыл бұрын
@@jaredgarcia8638 The real Terminator 3 IMO would be seeing the aftermath of their actions on the other side. Skynet realizes that it has lost and just as the reality they know begins to crumble Skynet, in a last ditch effort, send all their Terminators to several different eras in human history with the Resistance right behind them as always. For me this film, Pulp Fiction, all of Kubrick and all of Scorsese, Apocalipse Now, Scarface, Matrix, Fight Club fall into this category. Like if you agree 👍and write below your "masterpieces" that you would look at endlessly👇👇👇

I was about ten years old when this came out and to this day I can't fathom how this production occurred. A pinnacle of any production, casting, crew, artistry...it's beyond me to this day. It almost makes me cry that communities of artists, technicians, professionals, visionaries and actors can't really come together anymore like this anymore. Besides, there wouldn't be a budget for it until some alternate reality in the future. It just must have been so exciting, so focused, and so full of life to have worked in any department of this production and either collaborate on the processes or be imagining or acting. Won't happen for a long time.
