why men cry here: Arnold plays a robot in the film... a character who does what is necessary... he protects John and his mother with the highest priority... when it's done, and he knows that everything will end well for them, he leaves. .. without wanting anything, without expecting a thank you or anything else. True men also sacrifice everything for the ones they love. They destroy their bodys through hard work. Build everything that is necessary, repair everything that is necessary. Dreams, wishes or recognition are the last thing on their mind... the only thing that matters is that the family is doing well. And I think subconsciously we men know that at some point we will have to leave and leave our favorite people behind. And hope that we did good for them... And this scene somehow manifests that (for me at least).

This is the best ending scene out of all the Terminator movies. All of them had some sort of sad ending where an important character dies and in many cases there is a part where they say goodbye. But in T2 it was particularly heartfelt because it was like saying goodbye to a family member. The T-800 was like the father figure for John, and together with Sarah in the same scene there was that picture of a family with father, mother and son. Up to this point before the T-800 says he also needs to be destroyed, the audience is left with a sense of peace and triumph. The main antagonist T-1000 has been defeated, Sarah and John are reunited, and John has a father figure which Sarah has been looking for all these years for John. But then as soon as that perfect moment came to pass, it is quickly and painfully torn apart. Moments such as this speak to us emotionally as we envision a beautiful and bright future ahead for the people we love and hold dear.
@equestriaelectricsymphonyo86022 жыл бұрын
It is not just a family member, to me it felt like saying good bye to the classic 80s action hero, the decade this came out is about the last we see of them. John captures the kid we all were at the time. Even though they can't act they felt like fathers to us and we thought they were so cool

At the time of its release, this scene struck a chord particularly because Generation X was recognized as the first 'Latch Key' generation, navigating through the complexities of growing up with absent parents, single motherhood, and the like. The juxtaposition of a detached yet perpetually protective father figure captivated the audience. This emotional resonance was heightened by the characters' journey to deconstruct the quintessential father ideal, leading to a moving conclusion.

If they wanted to truly make a great sequel to terminator 2 and ignore the other ones... They should get Eddie in shape and have him taking over the rebellion against the machines. And Linda Hamilton is the right age to play an elderly Sarah to help guide him into becoming the leader. And Arnold could be in it with a body double and deaging

A non human sacrifices himself to save humanity - this echo's the Lamb of God and touches our souls deeply reminding us of Grace. Alexei beautifully offers this reminder and his own example to offer humanity a chance to strive for freedom and do better as humans. RIP Alexei 🕊️

This scene will always be my favourite scene in any movie franchise that’s ever been created. I remember I think this was the first movie I cried or click it was. Instrumental music that goes with it could you imagine if someone you loved or you yourself had to go into boiling lava or put your life down for someone you love. This part of the movie hits different to every other terminator movie they’ve ever done.

John crying for the T800 is great but I also realize now how powerful that handshake with Sara was. Literally making peace with your past demons and moving forward to your future

I watched Terminator 1 & 2 with my Dad on VHS when I was 8. To me, HE IS STILL MY HERO. My T-800 Uncle Bob.

I find it so brilliant how James Cameron wrote the Terminator. In Terminator 1, the Terminator ruined Sarah's life, killed her friends and killed the father of John. In Terminator 2, the Terminator is the one to help prevent judgement day, saves Sarah, and becomes John's father figure ultimately sacrificing himself. From the main villain to one of the main heroes. That was such a brilliant path to writing the story. And really this is where the Jame Cameron canon stpry ends. The second movie was really the one to tie up the seires into one final conclusion.

As the Terminator said: “It has to end here.” But The Sarah Connor Chronicles had some promise.
