Little Garden is a very... functional arc It introduces a lot of elements - the fact that the islands on the grand line have their own seasons and biomes, giants being a thing, more examples of devil fruits. But it doesn't really move the plot along. The entire arc could realistically be like 2 episodes total, were it not for the fight with Mr 3 & 5

Of course it moves the plot along. Little Garden is needed to introduce the Giants, who are extremely important for the main story. Also to make Nami sick -> need to recruit a doctor to the crew.

This is very important, all the payoffs are delayed because One Piece went from being a 5 year manga to a 25 year one.

@@Ambander-p3x Yeah, as I said: it sets up that giants are a thing. Nami getting sick *on* Little Garden (specifically being bitten by a bug) is an anime-only thing. Her being sick was introduced as the first chapter of Drum Island as a post-hoc explanation for why they have to go there. It introduces a few important elements at the cost of being overly long and not all that interesting for a first time viewer. Yes, it's a nice quaint arc, with the power of hindsight, but compare it to the things they've seen thus far and you can understand why it's underwhelming to them as first time viewers.

7:19 How did Luffy figure out who was the real mr3? (NO SPOILERS) It may seem like this is a plot armour moment that came out of nowhere, but if you look back at the previous episodes you will realize, that some type of sensing power is being built up as there are a lot of instances where characters are able to perceive and do stuff because of a "Instinct" or "hunch". Some examples in previous episodes: 1. Zoro immediately realises someone is observing them without even looking when everyone lands on Syrup Village. 2. Mihawk understanding how weak Zoro is compared to him without any prior knowledge of him. 3. Arlong detects Luffy's location in mid-air without looking at him when he is using his torpedo attack. Luffy called this observational ability of his an "Instinct".

Now this 'Read more' reply IS spoilers This is obviously foreshadowing Haki. There are many more instances of other types of haki aswell. Shanks using conq haki on sea king in luffy's backstory (chapter 1). Roger being implied to not be a devil fruit user even as the pirate king. Don krieg not being able to believe Mihawk is as strong as he is without a devil fruit In general certain people being naturally inhumanly strong (Inate haki potential) Zoro "Hearing" his swords (Observation Haki). and suddenly getting the ability to cut mr1's steel body (Armament) A bit of a stretch but you could also say the giant's attacks are advanced armament haki. (Emmision/ ryuo)

The point at which these senses are basically manifested is the Mr1 vs Zoro fight and Enels fight with the first official name for it. It's just that we as viewers learn about this world like the strawhats would learn about this world while adventuring through it, they can't possibly know about Haki/Mantra and have no name for it since knowledge is not globally shared, it's heavily reliant on the location where you're at.

There were a couple points during my one piece watchthrough where I thought "man this is just not for me". I completely caught up to the anime recently and its now its easily in my top 3, possibly my #1 of all time. So its totally okay if you don't like some arcs, people need to understand that the anime especially has its low moments, but in the end its all so worth it.

@@devil_gaming_ultra no I'm talking about thriller Bark arc. Yes I sure know pre time skip one piece is golden. For me pre time skip is like, how to say, the crew scenes together were more, the separating groups were like duo or trio only. Story is good, arcs are good, episodes are good, pacing is also okay. Most of the screen time is for our guys only! Whereas it totally changed after time skip. It's totally a flip flop. More screen time for other characters, horrible pacing, less interactions between the crew, More fan service, Sexualising women characters with their horrible outfits (sometimes it's almost unwatchable, for me atleast). Always the gang separates in two, Less Character development for our crew. But, post time skip is written well. That's what kept me going. But I don't like Fishman island that much. Trust me when I say this, I was on the verge of abandoning one piece. But I didn't do that. Punk hazard is okay and good. After that dressrosa and wci. God. These two are the best arcs after marineford and post marineford. Even though dressrosa has horrible pacing, its written so well. And don't start me with wci. That's literally the best post time skip arc. My current top 2 are marineford and wci. Currently watching wano. The story telling is interesting. But the episodes are normal for now. Have to see whole.
