This is the reason she got Buckingham kicked out of the band...this song has been festering for her since they recorded the album. Buckingham actually waited and recorded this song last knowing how much she would resist/resent it. Nicks would never have been in the band at all if Lindsay hadn’t insisted they had to take her if they wanted him. Nicks has written some good songs, and was cute and had a strangely interesting voice....but Buckingham is the massive talent. In fact listen to the Chain, where he took 5 diverse snippets of songs no-one knew what to do with and forged them into a huge hit. He and Christie McVie are what made Fleetwood Mac something special. And Go Your Own Way is a great song, whether Nicks likes it or not.

I think Nicks is a ghoul. Figuratively as well as literally. I don't think she ever got over the fact that he moved on in life, made a decision to be happy and made a beautiful life with his wife and children. I mean, who WOULDN'T choose love and happiness over drama, turmoil and vitriol?? Nicks can't hide her bitterness no matter how much she tries. I recall when Fleetwood Mac's followup album, Tusk, was released. It was initially greeted with puzzlement and disappointment by the public, as instead of being a 'volume 2' of their Rumours album, the Tusk album was exploring other music avenues. Two of the songs from the Tusk album, "Think About Me" and "Sara" did resonate with the spirit of the Rumours album.

@ Gotcha-Buckingham/Nicks were in an on/off drama filled relationship for quite a while. The lines in Go Your Own Way that offended Stevie must have been about others she hooked up with must have come from those days. I did a 30 second search for the timeline and supposedly Stevie was “dating” Don Henley and Fleetwood was married w kids when they hooked up. If anybody had to be a cuck, it’s fitting it was Don Henley. Fleetwood eventually broke up w Stevie after the doomed fling and went after (successfully) her best friend, dumping his wife for her. Soap opera and band in one.

@@brinsonharris9816 None of us really know the timelines of who did what first but there are stories about Buckingham making prolific use of groupies in order to taunt Stevie, something that is always available to rock stars at his level. While Stevie did have a succession of boyfriends and affairs I don't think she was doing male groupies while on tour. Maybe Buckingham thought groupies don't count or something but I'm sure it must have grated on Stevie to see young girls lining up to be with her ex boyfriend. The male perspective can be an odd thing, it does seem strange Buckingham would be resentful of Stevie dating when he was doing the rock star excess thing on tour.

Not meaning to create an iconic rock hit, it didn't make the pain his wife had to go through every time it was played any less. Guess that is why Phil says the doesn't know what 'In The Air Tonight' is sung about. You can't walk away from an epic, but you can try to not talk about it.

The BS price of fame I suppose. On a personal note, (coming up on 40 years ago) When my fiance and I broke up (she did the breaking up) it took me 2 years to get over it. Then one day, while driving my car, I said to myself, "You only live once, why be miserable"? And boom, just like that I was finally over her and moved on. I absolutely agree with you. People only ever tell old stories that everyone has heard a million times before. You can't hear it anymore. The only reason it's still done is to satisfy some people's thirst for sensation. That's the case here in Germany, where I live. I wouldn't have thought it would be the same in the USA. I expected that there would be more respect for the artists in the USA. I discovered Fleetwood Mac in the mid-1970s, in the “Best 5” line-up. I was thrilled & fascinated by the harmony of their voices in the songs and am still a fan of the band today. Over time, I became interested in the blues decade of FM and discovered many songs that I still like today. Everything evolves and changes. Nevertheless, I have always remained a fan of FM, regardless of the line-up. No matter who of the “Best5” wasn't there, they were missed. But there were always good alternatives. Especially with Tango in the Night with Billy Burnette and Rick de Vito. The conflicts that Stevie & Lindsey had and still have are their private business. My opinion: As a fan, you have no right to interfere or judge. Or would YOU think it's OK to interfere in YOUR life? I am grateful that Fleetwood Mac has been with me all my life and that I finally experienced FM live at concerts in Stuttgart (without Christine) & Cologne (Christine, Stevie, John, Mick & Lindsey) in 2013 and 2015. @shiroibasketshoes She's talented indeed. But she's delusional. Listen to her. She called Joe Walsh the love of her life, he called their time together snorting coke and having sex. She said herself, she saw him sitting somewhere thought he was cute and went over and hopped on his lap and it was on. Like I said her list is long. I'm a fan of her music but I can't respect somebody who shows no appreciation for those who made her career possible and is so proud of making babies irresponsibly and killing them with abortion as birth control because "being Stevie Nick's rock star" was so important to the world. She's a terrible person.

Yes, her list of lovers is long. She likes to point her finger at Buckingham (who has his faults as everyone does), but she likes to paint herself as a sweet person. Watching her waving her skirt around throughout a whole concert is bloody annoying. Yes, she is definitely a talented individual, but she is a hypocrite. Buckingham made her a star.

@@NorsePJ Who she loved is none of our business unless she chooses to let us know. I think she has always seemed modest in interviews. She became a star on her own merits and she helped Buckingham's career.

Not when he's the only reason she was ever in Fleerwood Mac. They didn't invite her to join, only him. So, she has him to thank and she never does. And her whole sound was crafted by him because she can't play an instrument or write her own music. She's a lyricist and singer. She has him to thank.
