I got pregnant at the end of July 1979. My whole world turned against me because I refused to get an abortion. I ended up homeless. Worse I did not know who the father was. I went on to suffer a lifetime of suffering because I refused to get an abortion. When my son turned 42 DNA provided my son with the truth of who his father was. His father and his entire family have embraced him. A year later my son's brother died leaving my other son's children motherless and fatherless. Today the son I refused to eliminate has a wonderful life and is raising his brother's sons.

You guys never mention the effect on the baby that lost its life, and by the way that was Don Henley's kid as much as hers but he had zero say in whether that kid lived or died. I knew a girl in high school.... very pretty... somewhat promiscuous but not more so than any of the rest of us. Twenty years later I worked with her husband and we got to be good friends. One day he told me that the night before his wife, this pretty girl I had known in high school, started bawling about how she was a terrible person because she had aborted her child. She said she couldn't enjoy any of the material things she now had because in the back of her mind she knew the cost of those things was her baby's life. She was scared to die because she thought God would not be pleased she had the abortion. She was afraid she was going to hell. Most of all, she couldn't stand the thought of being confronted by the child she aborted in the after-life. What would she say to this child? Having a choice does not necessarily mean that the choice that we make is the RIGHT choice or the choice that we can live with. I readily admit that there are women out there who have had abortions who could not care less and not suffer any guilt. (Although the ones who have had multiple abortions... the ones who are using abortion as birth control.... are crazy. If you are having so much unprotected sex that you need to have 10 abortions you are also at a high risk of STD's. And if you need 10 abortions but are only having sex with one guy... you need to examine why you stay with that guy.) Let's not promote abortions to vulnerable teenagers and young women whose entire life may be destroyed by the guilt and loss of having an abortion. Let's not pretend that she is worldly enough to fully understand the choice she is making and the lifelong ramifications it will have. Let's not pretend that it is even her choice all of the time. Lot's of teenagers are pressured into abortions. Let's recognize that there are parents out there who pressure their daughters into abortions because they think they will be stuck with the cost of raising that child. Let's sympathize with the young girl who desperately wanted that child and will suffer for the rest of her life because her own parents forced her to get an abortion. I've known women whose parents forced them to have an abortion. One girl in particular came to understand at an intellectual level as she got older that neither she nor her parents could afford the cost of a baby at that time, but in her heart she still wanted that baby and she hates her parents for taking it away from her. There is no greater form of child abuse than forcing your daughter to have an abortion when she wants to keep that baby. Yes, you may be protecting her ability to go to college and have a career someday, but you also may be damning her to lifelong feelings of guilt and loss. Depending on her innate feelings about God, you may me condemning her to a lifelong fear of God and the afterlife.

I think an abortion is and should be a choice, not enforced- and no this this is not anti-life, people should be able to choose. From my work i know many many peeps whose brother or sister were abused by their sibling because the parents had like twelve kids, in the 90's and this happes still, in the USA, Europe, today, babies, toddlers and a few teenagers running in a house.......so many other cases with other scenarios....i am not anti- life, give your kid the best life, but, yes, i am pro choice, and an abortion should never be forced, and i know girls and ladies who have no guilt or regrets after an abortion, but i also have never met anyone who was forced to have one, i have met people who were glad with their choice, and i hope you will not deem them as less of value because their feelings are different of yours.

How sad to hear that she had an abortion….think how talented her child might have been with her and don Henley.

Or they probably would have been like most of the children of talented people -- nothing to write home about regarding the art their parents were famous for. Folks always make babies out to be magical or something. They're just infant people.

Or just another messed up child who had lots of money but no parents with them ever due to their career and always being away from home. Could have went that way as well.

@@Artemis_A-24 There is a reason that she had an abortion, neither of them could just stop what they are doing and go be with a baby. They were both part of some of the biggest bands in history, which means that you can't just stop touring.

I remember the first time I heard Stevie Nicks sing. I was sitting in my car in a grocery store parking lot and was getting ready to turn the engine off when Rhiannon started playing on the radio. I was absolutely mesmerized and I said to myself, oh, my God, I just found my favorite female singer ever! I was right. Thank you, Stevie! 💕💕

Shes 77. And she’s still performing and getting out there. Christine was 79. The group is up there in the years and their days are numbered but boy did they have a good run. They’re my all time favorite group. Best of wishes to Stevie and may Christine rest in peace.

I think Stevie is doing what she was meant to do, sharing a bit of her story. Women take precautions and still become pregnant and may still choose to have a child , but certain circumstances it may mot be best , and I speaking more for the child. An unwanted child is possibly in my view to me of the most hurtful things to be. I am not meaning to preach but Stevie is right to stand up and get people to consider the realities of how dark turning back on roe v wade is and also consider how shameful it is for us here in the United States to be going backwards on a number of issues that deeply affect people who already face a lack of acceptance.

Quite incredible, Stevie Nicks is still going strong. Sharp minded at her stage of life. Moment of interview...about her musical partner Christine McVie, made eyes misty. Those, who detest choice of having an abortion. May not realize that was quite common. During hers and Don Henley's popular era in the music & acting industry. Highly respect her honesty. Reply

Seeing her trying to explain why the abortion was the the Right thing to do is so sad
@ijeannie3 ай бұрын
Not surprised of her past. Let voters decide. Planned Parenthood is so evil they would not allow me to bring my baby in the building with me. They told me they didn't want my baby to influence someone wanting an abortion. How evil is that?! Pretty evil! Adoption is always an alternative too. Love her music. ❤

What a Great woman elder, stevie remembers the years our mothers and other women were dying because they had no power over there bodies!!!! You better prepare for war is a great line, because in a few years the rate of women dying fir lack of health care and children born into situation that are unwanted or deplorable will skyrocket. All women should ve marching in the street behind stevie!!! Our elders did and we have let them down letting men tell us what to do with our bodies. Little do they know it will affect them as well............. thank you stevie!!!!!!

Stevie Nicks is one of the biggest icons of the 80s along with Cyndi Lauper, Pat Benatar, Madonna, Tina Turner, etc. Always about women’s rights and progress.

Sometimes women get active in the pro abortion movement as a defense mechanism for dealing with the long term trauma and self loathing that results from getting an abortion. She seems like she is in a lot of pain over her decision. I wish for her sake that this interview was about her relationship with her child and the joy that has brought her. Perhaps we should all take a moment to mourn the loss of her child.

the matter of fact way that Stevie discusses her abortion is rather off-putting, I understand, she had the right to make her own decision, but I wonder if she fantasizes about what her child would have been like today? Sad - I would

This remarkable woman had a huge impact on my life through the years. I first heard her on WZZQ in the 70’s, late one night-it was a Buckingham Nicks song…I bought the record, twice and saw her perform in 1983. Then I saw the Fleetwood Mac Reunion Tour in the late 90’s. She faced her drug & alcohol abuse and then years, after her doctor prescribed her Clonazepam, I saw her in an interview say “I looked at myself and said ‘You’re dead’” She was numbed by the benzodiazepine. At the time I had been taking the same prescribed medication as Stevie. When I saw her say that, I began to lower my dosage and am down to .5 mg per day. In December I will be off Clonazepam completely. My life is so much better because I heard what she said🩷🙏.
