The comments section is so bizarre. There are so many criticisms here as if she was holding a gun to these people's head and forcing them to study for 15 hours a day. No where in the video does she say that you HAVE to study like this to be successful. In my opinion, being able to do this shows just how much self-discipline and dedication she has and she should be proud of that. She really doesn't deserve all these inconsiderate comments.
@helenhamilton2544
@helenhamilton2544 6 жыл бұрын
KRadio35 I think it's because the video is presenting an unhealthy and unrealistic (for many people) style of studying, and so self confidence is dragged down when people realise that they can't do this. They start to think, if I can't do this maybe I won't be successful, and then they are miserable because they think they are a failure. It's not Ruby herself who is the problem, it's just the lifestyle the video seems to imply (she's said that she doesn't actually study like this everyday but not everyone will know that)

Just a message to anybody watching this: If studying for this long isn’t gonna help you DON’T aspire to do it. Most people wouldn’t be able to keep focus for this long, and it could actually almost be counter productive to study for this long. You don’t need to work in exactly this way to get top marks! Yes top marks will require effort and dedication, but that can simply mean taking good notes in class, reading over them/ doing further research on them in your spare time, followed by doing a few practise essays or question papers following up this. Don’t stress yourselves out beautiful people!!! Some people respond well to this way of study, some don’t, do what works for YOU!

doing anything for 15 hours is obsessive - just because it is studying and grades are treasured does not make it any less obsessive. she gets 8 hours sleep and has 2 hours for other things. that is not a balanced life and most likely why Oxford rejected her - they see through kids who define self worth through academics

For her, studying is FUN. For you, partying is FUN. For others, sports or video games is FUN. See, having fun is a matter of taste. Fully subjective. So I don't get all these comments nagging her to have fun while in fact she is enjoying herself, studying as much as you enjoy partying, drinking, and wasting yourself off. Okay?
@exstalle2736

@nicolecerenio3776 6 жыл бұрын
@@exstalle2736 She said it herself. She doesn't do this everyday. And who cares anyway? We sometimes do at least once in a week unhealthy things. Is it healthy to party and drink all night? Is it healthy to play video games all day? Hell no! It's quite irrelevant in the first place because this is not even an issue about health. So fuck off.

Ok but does doing drugs consider fun? No right? It is not normal or good to enjoy doing something bad and useless. the same thing goes for studying for 15 hours.
@nicolecerenio3776
@nicolecerenio3776 6 жыл бұрын
@@hiba8570 Doing drugs could be fun for others but that does not mean it's right. See, my argument is directed for those who tells her to have fun while for me, she was actually having fun by studying. This is a question of whether a thing is fun or not and not a question of right or wrong. Thus, your argument is irrelevant.

in high school , middle school and even elementary school i was one of the stop students without even breaking a sweat ( sleep in class , skip class , never any homework and just ace the exam ) , to the point of where i truthfully believed i will be like this forever , but years have passed and i've reached university , and in my specialty , everyone was gifted and i was just average , not only were they gifted but also have great work ethics , hard workers , while i've had 12 years of bad habits to shave off , i've struggled tremendously in the first year , just to get myself to study for 25 min , failed many classes and ended up going to summer school each year to manage to pass to the next one ... barely . building the capacity to work hard is a very crucial part of growing up and even though for a lot , it doesn't seem necessary at all , there will come a time when it will be , always push your lead and stay ahead of the game , don't slack and think i'm too far ahead , life won't catch up ... cause it does .

I wonder if Ruby is extrinsically motivated or intrinsically motivated. Does she stay productive because she fears falling behind other people? Or does she focus on self mastering her productivity? There's no way she isn't deriving some sort of satisfaction from crushing her competition. There's something I'm missing here, can't quite put my finger on it.

V S S i think she did show the process. She writes short introductions and ideas and collects bits and pieces of info here and there. All the things she was doing when not writing essays was essay prep. That's why she could write multiple essays. She likely already had done all the same work you saw her but for the topics that completed essays on. Do what she does for the rest of the video and focus on those pieces instead of the big idea of how to write essays from start to finish

It's a skill. Practice to get better at it. Never stop writing. Everyday write sth informal. A diary. A short review of a book you read or a movie you watched. Be brave to share your opinions. Don't think how to start just start with the first thing that came to your mind. And trim and edit your draft later. Making a draft helps a lot, just like Ruby did, because it makes the process of writing much easier and faster and you stay on point and don't stray too much. However, don't be so afraid to go off topic as well, sometimes this is what makes the essay original. Make connections. Things that seems irrelevant may actually be the same thing. ^_^

@@contemplationsobservings6591 ummm , why do you have to use the " idiot " word. Just because she said that , " for a good job , you need to put this amount of work " well , she is right. If you wanna be a software engineer , a doctor , a professor or even a lawyer. You have to work your ass of for this much longer in order to achieve those goals. Not everyone can be a dropper and become successful and also , not everyone wanna be a dancer , stripper , singer , youtuber or motivational speaker. Just because , you think , you are " smart " always remember that there are 100,000 more people are of same level or even higher level from you. So , you gotta work 100 more harder. I know this video is a year old now but these comments are ridiculous. You can't do anything in this world without being judged by others which is why I don't share anything online because being unnecessarily ripped to pieces by people who don't understand that everyone is different is not something I want. If she enjoys this, what's wrong with it? She's not hurting anyone. She says that she doesn't so it everyday, and she said on other days she'll work 9-10 hours. That's what people with jobs work so are they wasting their time too? Get a grip, ignorant people in the comments, and realise that everyone works differently, and if this is what works for Ruby so be it, live and let live. Oh and fyi - she'll definitely be more successful than all of us so don't get even madder when she's living her best life because she put in the work.

I think that life is unpredictable and u can't guarantee that someone will become successful. Yes, some people are hardworking and it's cool but for me, if you are studying 24/7 it doesn't mean that u r such a succesful person, it's life and it's normal. Somebody care about her health (not just physical, also mental ) and they are interested in her condition

kittle kottle Great job shitting on everyone else to make someone else feel better. People can say what they want, y’know. You can’t control that. Studying this much is ode and just not necessary, but you are right she can study how she wants… doesn’t mean I have to keep my mouth shut.

i agree. if she loves doing this then by all means she should! as long as she doesn’t become a workaholic, which even though it sounds humorous can be a serious issue and lead to really unhealthy unrealistic goals, which leads to a lot of disappointment, depression and horrible physical health. while it’s impressive and smart to be organized like this, you shouldn’t allow it to become an obsession, because no obsession is healthy.

I totally respect and admire Ruby and all her hard work she has totally inspired me and i have started putting in about 2hrs a night to study and revison. However i had a really interesting talk today and what i found out was that whilst hard work is extremely important it is also important to make sure you are doing the right things(not that rubys not), for example is you dont have time to study for hours like ruby you could spend 30minutes doing practise exam questions do you can become familliar how to answer these questions, trust me this helps i did practice exam questions and immediatly began to see improvements!

Honestly, I really think you're an amazing girl and you're so smart, pretty and really focused on your studies. But keep in mind that this ist not everything in this world. Don't miss out on the fun stuff in life. We have so little time when we are young. I obviously don't want to say, that studying isn't important, but for me personally, friends, free time, and projects that have nothing todo with school or university are just as important. Because they definitely give me more life experience than a heavy schoolbook. No offense - you're amazing!
