The comments section is so bizarre. There are so many criticisms here as if she was holding a gun to these people's head and forcing them to study for 15 hours a day. No where in the video does she say that you HAVE to study like this to be successful. In my opinion, being able to do this shows just how much self-discipline and dedication she has and she should be proud of that. She really doesn't deserve all these inconsiderate comments.
@helenhamilton25446 жыл бұрын
KRadio35 I think it's because the video is presenting an unhealthy and unrealistic (for many people) style of studying, and so self confidence is dragged down when people realise that they can't do this. They start to think, if I can't do this maybe I won't be successful, and then they are miserable because they think they are a failure. It's not Ruby herself who is the problem, it's just the lifestyle the video seems to imply (she's said that she doesn't actually study like this everyday but not everyone will know that)

Just a message to anybody watching this: If studying for this long isn’t gonna help you DON’T aspire to do it. Most people wouldn’t be able to keep focus for this long, and it could actually almost be counter productive to study for this long. You don’t need to work in exactly this way to get top marks! Yes top marks will require effort and dedication, but that can simply mean taking good notes in class, reading over them/ doing further research on them in your spare time, followed by doing a few practise essays or question papers following up this. Don’t stress yourselves out beautiful people!!! Some people respond well to this way of study, some don’t, do what works for YOU!

doing anything for 15 hours is obsessive - just because it is studying and grades are treasured does not make it any less obsessive. she gets 8 hours sleep and has 2 hours for other things. that is not a balanced life and most likely why Oxford rejected her - they see through kids who define self worth through academics

For her, studying is FUN. For you, partying is FUN. For others, sports or video games is FUN. See, having fun is a matter of taste. Fully subjective. So I don't get all these comments nagging her to have fun while in fact she is enjoying herself, studying as much as you enjoy partying, drinking, and wasting yourself off. Okay?
@exstalle27366 жыл бұрын
Sure, studying is fun for her. BUT, 15 hours of studying is not good at all for your health. Just like doing sports for 15 hours etc
@nicolecerenio37766 жыл бұрын
@@exstalle2736 She said it herself. She doesn't do this everyday. And who cares anyway? We sometimes do at least once in a week unhealthy things. Is it healthy to party and drink all night? Is it healthy to play video games all day? Hell no! It's quite irrelevant in the first place because this is not even an issue about health. So fuck off.

I wonder if Ruby is extrinsically motivated or intrinsically motivated. Does she stay productive because she fears falling behind other people? Or does she focus on self mastering her productivity? There's no way she isn't deriving some sort of satisfaction from crushing her competition. There's something I'm missing here, can't quite put my finger on it.

@SexyBakanishi6 жыл бұрын
V S S i think she did show the process. She writes short introductions and ideas and collects bits and pieces of info here and there. All the things she was doing when not writing essays was essay prep. That's why she could write multiple essays. She likely already had done all the same work you saw her but for the topics that completed essays on. Do what she does for the rest of the video and focus on those pieces instead of the big idea of how to write essays from start to finish
@vss20336 жыл бұрын

I find planning multiple essays really helps before you write them. And spreading the essays throughout the day between 'easier' tasks really helps. Or even writing a paragraph at a time! Good luck! x
@StephanieLuff6 жыл бұрын
I came to say what VSS said. Most of what she did here was planning, not writing. Summaries, mind maps, etc.
@monolithicshore6 жыл бұрын
It's a skill. Practice to get better at it. Never stop writing. Everyday write sth informal. A diary. A short review of a book you read or a movie you watched. Be brave to share your opinions. Don't think how to start just start with the first thing that came to your mind. And trim and edit your draft later. Making a draft helps a lot, just like Ruby did, because it makes the process of writing much easier and faster and you stay on point and don't stray too much. However, don't be so afraid to go off topic as well, sometimes this is what makes the essay original. Make connections. Things that seems irrelevant may actually be the same thing. ^_^

I know this video is a year old now but these comments are ridiculous. You can't do anything in this world without being judged by others which is why I don't share anything online because being unnecessarily ripped to pieces by people who don't understand that everyone is different is not something I want. If she enjoys this, what's wrong with it? She's not hurting anyone. She says that she doesn't so it everyday, and she said on other days she'll work 9-10 hours. That's what people with jobs work so are they wasting their time too? Get a grip, ignorant people in the comments, and realise that everyone works differently, and if this is what works for Ruby so be it, live and let live. Oh and fyi - she'll definitely be more successful than all of us so don't get even madder when she's living her best life because she put in the work.

i agree. if she loves doing this then by all means she should! as long as she doesn’t become a workaholic, which even though it sounds humorous can be a serious issue and lead to really unhealthy unrealistic goals, which leads to a lot of disappointment, depression and horrible physical health. while it’s impressive and smart to be organized like this, you shouldn’t allow it to become an obsession, because no obsession is healthy.

guys dont feel bad if you dont study anywhere near 15 hours, do as much as you need to do in order to learn what is required, dont over do it. ruby loves studying so that is different but of course not everybody loves studying, dont compare yourself to others
