Love the combination of whiskey and watches! In regards to the watch content part of this video, I’m not sure what you mean when you say Monta is the only watch brand to have a fully adjustable bracelet without tools. Rolex glidelock, IWC Big Pilot 43, Omega SMP, Tudor Pelagos, Christopher Ward, Zelos, etc. all have tool-less micro adjustment functionality in their clasps. I do agree Monta offers an incredible value proposition and you are not compromising on any specs or quality of fit & finish when purchasing a Monta watch. Brand recognition is the one thing they don’t have which could be a big deal to some people when deciding to spend money on a luxury item. Also, specifically for a GMT watch- getting a jumping local hour “true” GMT movement instead of an office GMT is something that differentiates Rolex/Tudor/Omega from Monta.
@stuffandwhiskey2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for tuning in, Dan! The Monta comment regarding their adjustable clasp was in reference to their entire product line having that feature. While many companies do have an adjustable clasp on some models, no other company (at least at the time of this filming) had an adjustable clasp on *every* model they offered (at least to our knowledge, correct us if we're wrong). Great points on the local jumping hour as well, even if we are more fans of the jumping GMT hand and quickset date of the ETA/Sellita GMTs. Cheers and thanks again for watching!
@DSimms2 жыл бұрын
@@stuffandwhiskey Ah I see your point now, thanks for the reply. And agreed, GMT movement type comes down to personal preference and one is not inherently better than the other especially when offered at near chronometer level accuracy!

$2K for the Monta seems a little steep. Just picked up a Mido Ocean Star cal 80 for just over $600 from a dealer in Miami. Wish I could get a Bardstown muled to Ontario. Great lineup.
@stuffandwhiskey3 жыл бұрын
Josh here. Mido makes great stuff to be sure! That said, Monta’s fit and finish is truly a cut above. Long story but I was actually a big skeptic of theirs until I handled one in person. It’s hard to wrap your head around without seeing one in the metal. Montas are worth every penny of their asking price (at least in my book). I try to like WT101, but something funky on the finish just stops me from enjoying it. I've been hesitant to try Rare Breed, but I did for the first time last night. I really enjoy the mid-palette cinnamon bomb, but it has the same back end funk that just ruins the experience for me. I did also have Stellum Rye which was freakin delicious. I agree with Josh on Blanton's, there are so many things I like better at that price point, like OF 1910 or OF 1920.
@stuffandwhiskey3 жыл бұрын
Josh here. As I was reading through your Rare Breed account I couldn’t help but think 1920 would be perfect. I think Rare Breed and 1920 are pound for pound the best bottles available for the money-just depends on which suits your palate better. Interested in your thoughts on that Stellum rye!
@bo_mccroskey3 жыл бұрын
@@stuffandwhiskey I've had both the Bourbon and the Rye. I really enjoy them both, especially for the price. The bourbon is very similar to 1920, except it has that great MGP toasted marshmallow flavor I like so much. I'm really not a rye guy, but the Rye is excellent. To me, the spicy ryeness is more in the background and brown sugar is up front and center. The cinnamon doesn't hit as hard as Rare Breed, but it's there. To me, they both drink way more mild than their proof points and both are fairly viscous and very delicious.
@stuffandwhiskey3 жыл бұрын
@@bo_mccroskey man that rye sounds right in both of our wheelhouses. We’ll keep our eyes peeled as it just released at some stores in our local market.
@bo_mccroskey3 жыл бұрын
@@stuffandwhiskey So a few days later, i think maybe the Rare Breed opened up a bit because the finish is sweeter today and less drying / funky. I still prefer the Stellum Rye. It's so delicious to me, but this Rare Breed is growing on me for sure.
