You should do a video on how you grocery shop! How you plan out your meals and how you save money. Stuff like that. (Edit) After reading through the comments I realize that you live with your parents so I assume that’s why you’re not spending much on groceries. I’m in the same boat!

I love this method! I’m definitely gonna start doing this. I don’t mind going to the bank often also. Now budgeting doesn’t have to be so hard and having decorated envelope will make it easier

I personally think it's kinda fun! I work from home so I like the social interaction lol 😂 plus the bank is right by my gym! So it's not inconvenient at all. I hope it works out well for you!!

Alyssa, Can you do a video where a couple has 2 incomes coming in, but in this case the husband gets paid every week (sometimes overtime) and the wife gets paid 2 times per month. I am curious how to set up a budget this way.

This is my helpful tip for car registration: Every year you re-register your vehicle, the registration cost should go down. Use your previous year’s registration cost to budget for the next year’s registration, as it should be more than enough, and then boom, you have money left over you can either carryover into next year, or transfer it into a different envelope (maybe spending! 😉)

I’ve been watching your videos non stop! I saw how cute your envelops were and went to the store bought all the supplies and made my own! I decided I’m going to give them as gifts to friends and family members for Christmas! Thanks for the info! Also I’m wondering how you’re able to meet the banks requirement of “swiping” your card at least 10x a month to avoid charges?
@alyssamakeseverything6 жыл бұрын
So so awesome! I love it! I don't have a card that requires me to do that, my charges are waived be cause I have a direct deposit coming in.

@altheanoblitt23916 жыл бұрын
watch her other videos. when budgeting always have a projected amt and actual amt. Since your income varies, always budget low on income and high on expenses.

Obsessed with your videos! Binged watched them all! How would you do it if you get paid weekly? Would it be the same just smaller amounts going in each week?
@marysaleh20426 жыл бұрын
I’m guessing that you would just have to divide it by four. For example if you’re subscribed to an app that charges you $20 monthly, you can put in $5 each week you get paid for it. If you know you will be spending $500 on your car, divide by 4, and save up from there

What do you use your “spending money” on? I defiantly love these videos.. very helpful! Also what do you do from home? Thanks
@alyssamakeseverything6 жыл бұрын
My "spending" money is basically date money for my boyfriend and I! But I also use it to buy whatever I want, whether it be planner stickers or something like that! A lot of the time too if I run out of money in my grocery envelope and I need food, I will use some money from the spending envelope. In my recent Q & A Video I talked all about what I do working from home 😊

My only question is how you make your envelope to sheets. The lined sheets on the actual envelopes. How do you know what to write each month? For example. My car loan is 150 a month. I get two pay checks a month. 75 each paycheck. 4,320 left to pay. If it's empty do I put 0? Or to pay it off quicker, would/could I put maybe an extra 25 in each month? That's where I'm confused with some monthly bills I want to pay off quicker. I hope that makes sense.
@alyssamakeseverything6 жыл бұрын
The lined sheets are literally just a piece of lined binder paper that I taped onto the back of the envelope! And if your goal is to pay of your car as soon as possible, I'd get on a strict written budget and anything you have left over at the end of your budget when you're writing it out, you put that extra towards your car!
@elizabethplus26 жыл бұрын
Alyssa Nicole oh okay. I just see you writing and tracking (each) envelope and was curious your system. Thank you! Your videos truly have helped me.

Girl you are my inspiration. I wish I could be more like you and less like me! Hahaha I have such a hard time being organized, and strict with our money. How did you get started? Really like your videos! But how do you already have money in some of your envelopes? Don’t you pay for your bills monthly?
@alyssamakeseverything6 жыл бұрын
I stuff my envelopes every 2 weeks, and I split all of my bills into two. So for instance, I got paid today, and I'll be putting in the second half of my car payment. So the $176 I put in there today will join the other $176 from my last paycheck 2 weeks ago, and then I will make my car payment on the 15th!

How do you pay any bills that are online? I am struggling with how much cash to take out and how much to keep in my account for my automated bills.
@alyssamakeseverything6 жыл бұрын
There's probably a much better way to do this, but what I've been doing has worked for me for years. I take out everything in cash, including my online payments like my car payment and cell phone bill. Here's an example of what I do. My cell phone bill comes out automatically on the 24th, so on any day from like the 20th-23rd, I will go to the bank and deposit that money needed for that bill to come out. If I were to leave that money in my checking account, it would likely disappear. I'm SO bad if I leave money on my debit card! I'm a serial swiper for sure.

@alyssamakeseverything6 жыл бұрын
I've been working a modified Dave Ramsey plan for years and years now. I had the $500 starter emergency fund for a long time but now that I'm making more money I'm slowly adding to that to build to the $1000. I'm at $750 right now 😊

Just a tip, an ideal Emergency Fund should be equal to your 3-6 months monthly expense or income.

You don’t pay for rent?
@alyssamakeseverything6 жыл бұрын
I'm currently living with my parents while working and going to school full time. My parents have always had the rule that if you're going to school, you don't pay rent. While I would LOVE to be living on my own, I would have to take out student loans for school and wouldn't be able to pay off my car if I was. So I'm going to suck it up and live at home for as long as I can until I finish school. My parents might be downsizing in house though so we'll see...I might have to move out anyway!

This is ridiculous. Dave Ramsey doesnt say to spend your entire paycheck. I don't care how you split it up, you're still spending the whole check.
