My grandfather was a spitfire pilot. I love this project because it preserves aviation history. Throughout his career he downed 15 planes mostly bf -109s but some stukas too. Anyway have a nice day and though the Nazis were horrible the German people who fought and died for their country were just doing their job like anyone would’ve done. 👏🏼

Thank you so much for this tour. I am a model builder and also a watchmaker. Thus I tend to build to a much higher level of detail than is usual. I was actually wanting information on how the rudder peddles mounted and articulated so I could at least give a reasonable representation in the Ju87A I am building. The ones that were being worked on are identical to those in the plane I am building and this kind of information is so hard to find.

This is WNr. 6234. I have the damaged Revi C/12D gunsight from WNr. 6284 of 9./StG1 lost near Luban, Russia. That Stuka was an R-4 coded J9+ML. It will be nice to see one fly again. Very impressive to see that they were employing conduits to run the wiring bundles in the wings. This may not mean much to the casual viewer, but in the context of aircraft maintenance this is a feature that mechanics appreciate. When a wire/s has to be replaced it can be fished out and new wire pulled through without having to rebuild the wire bundle - a tedious and tricky job when its in some tight confines of the airplane structure. Airbuses employ this method in a number of key areas(in the fuel tanks particularly). Any mechanic that’s ever replaced a fuel qty tank harness of a B737, for example, will know what I mean. In the Airbus A320, on the other hand the wiring are distributed in the wing tank in those conduits. There are pull cords to facilitate the replacement of the qty harness. Clamps are only required near the ends of the conduits. Nice to see progress being made on the Ju-87......love visiting the museum. Cheers, from nearby Vancouver, BC

+ PTCG - Team Dark This Stuka left the factory in North African desert colors and was diverted to the Eastern Front. The goal of the restoration was to represent all layers of paint, so the intention was to repaint it in Eastern Front greens after assembly. As it is, all museum work is currently on hold just as the Stuka was coming together.

Fascinating information. The complexity of what became a laughing stock of the RAF during the Battle of Britain really does bring home the financial cost of war and ironically how the advancement of aeronautics made over a protracted period became obsolete in a matter of ,sometimes , weeks ! I guess this will be a unique flying example of a very rare aircraft. Thankyou

I sincerely hope you use modern vinyl insulated wire instead of cloth insulated wiring. I recall reading in Flight Journal Magazine ten years ago or so about the restoration of your P-51 that you found a European manufacturer that still made cloth insulated wiring and that was what you used on the P-51. No sense using inferior wiring on an airworthy aircraft.
@TPath3
@TPath3 3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't jumpt to the conclusion right of the bat that vinyl insulation is superior to clothing, polyvinychloride becomes very brittle once the softener starts to dissipate, remember these aircraft were crafted at a time things where built to last forever compared to today on average. If they restore it, then it can do another hundred years.
