4:40 & 4:49 "No way!/Oof!" sound *is* from Doom, fun find! 18:17 Grenade throwing sound from Return to Castle Wolfenstein, btw the maker says he was a big fan of Prince of Persia and tried recreating it… and he even chose to use the crazy MIDIs from PoP2, which sound like shite on MPU-401 because of differences.

Zorro, at 4:43, after the plus sign flipped once to dump you and then again when you walked through it, I wish you would have tried jumping straight up, see if it would flip again and lift you up onto it. And in Cruel World it took you that long to notice the red skeleton wasn't attacking? LOL! I figure he's there to let you figure out how fighting works.

I've begun playing Zorro after finding it on The Iso Zone, it's damn crazy because of how strict the detection is for catching ledges, let alone doing running jumps! (Thank god at least the F1 key gave me a guide) But it's still about as glitchy as Prince of Persia 2 on SNES, which the people at Titus Software must've thought was properly tested. At least Abe from Oddworld, Conrad from Flashback, and even Kyle Blackthorne (from Blackthorne, duh) only had to be concerned about being in the right spot to properly jump.
@DavidXNewton7 жыл бұрын
That's right, the people who made Zorro were able to make something that looked like Prince, but absolutely couldn't make it feel good!
@TheBreakingBenny6 жыл бұрын
As a final touch, the ending is simply being kicked back to DOS. There's not much of a congratulatory message from Capstone, aside from the credits showing who made this game before the company went under. The music (by Bobby Prince!) and "The Game of Z" is pretty nice though, and the FMVs are okay.

I've some time with those "Zorro" and "Cruel World" PoP clones. Even had some progress in "Cruel World" cause to level selection. I think its "N" and "M" on keyboard. Also, my PoP-clones search gave me "Nosferatu" on SNES (via emulation, cause its limited regional release or something) and this thing - "Death by Dark Shadows" kzbin.info/www/bejne/nGjagHycjN-trpY Well, not so many PoP-clones after all - this sub-genre is hard to master. It's great we got "Another World" ("Out of This World"), "Flashback", "Blackthorn" ("Blackhawk") and "Bermuda Syndrome"! And this sub-genre grown into "Fade to Black" and "Tomb Raider" which born the new genre - Action/Adventure. Just finished "Shadow of the Tomb Raider" couple of weeks ago. Still feels this PoP platforming vibes. Some people complaining about "meaningless" DLC's with tombs and traps - common, tricky platforming puzzles are never enough))

Hah, yes - it’s so broken and unplayable! There’s a playthrough floating around here where the settings go into a desert, a fortress and a jungle of some kind… it even looks like some of the levels aren’t in the correct order, maybe they never expected anyone to get that far

@@DavidXNewton Going by the FMVs, the jungle and prison sections are not sensible considering Zorro's being taken to meet the "new" governor Anabella "Cutty Tsar"... Capstone Software is the studio described as "The Pinnacle of Breaking [Civvie11]'s Balls".
