From a random guy who just cleared and stumped 3 acres this year to make field space(mind you I bought a small excavator for the job, but also have a backhoe) 1. Leaving the stump a bit taller can give you added leverage to finish off the last remaining roots under a stump you can’t get to. 2. Don’t be afraid to make the hole bigger than you’d like- the grass grows back, and the roots are easier for the machine to break farther from the stump. Added Benefit is you get more wood out of the ground and less settling over time. 3. The loader and backhoe curl is much stronger than the loader lift or dipper stick - and can break roots easier. Rather than try to “lift” stump with loader, try to get bucket under and use the curl. All lessons I learned diggin a couple hundred stumps this year. Overall you did a great job and didn’t break machine. That’s a win all day. Looked like a tough stump regardless.

Hi Mike! I found with my mini excavator the easiest way to remove stump is to not cut the tree first. I loosing up roots then push tree over. Most of the roots come up out of ground then. Love your videos, keep on trucking!

👊💪 Hi Mike! Did not bring in dirt yet, letting it settle and sink some. Now I am battling the mole that moved in. Yes! I have got some backlash about the chainsaw, it’s just a little dirt! No rocks. Everything cleaned up just fine. Definitely contrary to the way you want to use a saw, but those roots were not letting go on the end of an axe that I would be holding 😂😜 I can always get more chainsaw chains😎 Thanks for checking it out! Hi Mike, I dig out one hickory stump like that and I swear there was a much tree under ground as was above ground. After my wife saw what a huge hole I dug up in the yard she went on line and ordered a stump grinder for my kioti tractor from woodland mills. She said no more destroying so much of the yard. I can't complain since I have a new toy coming to play with.

Hey Mike some patience you have. A good way to play outside with your Kioti and stay away from your lady's kitchen!! I heard that using a few bags of charcoal bricks can do magic. Never tried it myself but seems the trick is to drill a hole in the middle of the stump cut flat to the ground and just lay a pile of those bags and light them up. The stump should burn slowly deep in the ground and leave no mess behind. Well, so a friend said. You handle that Kioti very well and I love the setup of your land. I got the chicks :) I still need the land and surely a Kioti. Take care!

I personally didn't opt for a backhoe when I bought my Kioti CS2520. It's a bit smaller than yours as well. The price for it was more than I wanted to spend for little I would use it, plus it's a larger footprint with a hoe installed. I did however just purchase and finally got my 3 point stump grinder. If a person was going to plant where a stump was grinding is not the way to go, but if just seeding grass in that spot it is way faster and disturbs the rest of the lawn less. Watching your video confirms my choice and I'm glad you made this video so I could see that. Great job on the video and getting that monster stump out.

👍👊Hi TV, Thanks! Yes! The backhoe is a spendy option. I used it a lot when we first bought the property. I put in several utility lines. Now it sits most of the time. Regarding the stump video, if I had to do it again, I would probably grind it. This particular tree has quite a ground crown. I am looking forward to mowing without the obstacle, once the lawn it fixed.😅😂I appreciate you checking out the video! Take care!🚜🍺🇺🇸

Nice job with the backhoe with the stumps. I have a CK3510SE with a backhoe and one thing that has helped me tremendously is getting a smaller bucket for the hoe. I got a 9" for about $300 from the dealer and it is night and day difference in terms of strength in applications like this. Not to mention how much better for trenching.

That was CHEEP. My " kubogy " Bh92 buckets ( next size bigger) cost an arm & leg. The are "quick-attach" ( what a blessing)( scraped the "pin-on" styles"). With 24"=1100$,a 18"= 950$,&a 12"=900$,& quick-coupler =700$,thumb = 950$. With this chunk of change invested l almost "hate" the color orange.( luckily had the TLB paid fer before l started "slapping on" the extras.Gots to have the buckets to be efficient. Best wishes with all your endeavours.

That was a HUGE root! Forgive my ignorance, since i'm about to buy my first sizable lot of land to build a house and do some gardening, but can I ask some questions? There's a lot of trees on the lot I'm buying and I was thinking of getting a compact tractor to help with the trees and firewood. The builder only clears the house pad plus 40 feet around it. Since I' won't know where my gardens and chickens will go until later, I'd like to take down the trees in those areas myself. Do you think the backhoe is a valuable attachment for the tractor? What about the grapple? I've been watching this guy "Brain Homestead" and he's been pulling out stumps using only ropes, snatch blocks and pulleys. He does use a small tractor as well, but mostly to pull the ropes... he doesn't really dig around the root. I think you could have saved SOME of your digging if you'd have used that method after cutting those big roots. And you could have changed the direction of your pull to stay away from the drain pipe, or whatever you were avoiding. I wonder what your fuel costs were to do all that digging verses using the block/tackle for some of it. Just my 2 cents from someone who has never had a tractor before and only dug out one stump by hand in my youth. Great video. Thanks for posting it.

Hi Will, I bought the tractor with a backhoe new in 2019. I just sold it and bought a cab tractor. I used the backhoe to put in our utilities and to do some digging. If I had to do the stump over again, I would have used a stump grinder. After using the backhoe for a few things, it mostly sat. The grapple is an outstanding tool for moving brush efficiently. I don’t think pulling stumps out is a viable option. Renting an excavator to remove stumps is a good way to go. Having a small tractor to clean up and maintain a property is priceless. Good luck with your purchase. Thanks for checking out the video! Cheers

Nice job. Might I suggest investing in some cable, snatch blocks, and stakes? The cable fits perfectly under the backhoe chassis, and the pin fits perfectly in the eyelet where the ball hitch slides in. Its alot cheaper than the stump grinder, and has many uses. You are stressing your front end loader. And to drag it, an old truck hood works great. You lay it down next to the stump, roll stump over on it. And drag away with your ball hitch turned down. You need a choker hook. Which is also handy to pull the stump out. Tractor supply for about $225. Good luck buddy.

Hey Hello Goodbye! I have lots of cable and even a winch setup for the back of the tractor, of course I have to take the backhoe off. Stress on the loader is a daily occurrence around here, although I should try to work smarter. At the price of diesel, my tractor might be yard art soon !!!😊😜 I appreciate your feedback and checking out the video! Take care!🇺🇸🚜🍺

Hi there, I recently sold my CK3520H with the backhoe. I purchased a new CK2620 cab and a bobcat e26 mini excavator. I have found advantages to both. The backhoe was great for putting in utilities and some other chores. The tractor moves much faster than the excavator and is more nimble. The excavator has more digging ability and better reach. You can google the backhoe you are considering and it will give you the specs. Here’s what I found; The Kioti KB2475 is a backhoe attachment for Kioti tractors that can trench up to 94 inches deep and has a bucket dig force of up to 3,748 pounds. It has the following features: Hydraulics: Self-contained hydraulics and two-lever hydraulic controls Buckets: Comes with a variety of buckets, including

@tractorrookie 2 жыл бұрын
😊👍Hi Rico! Yes, a backhoe is super handy if you have lots to do. Especially if you work and have to rent equipment on your off hours. When we first purchased the property I did a lot of work with the backhoe. Now, 3 years later it mostly sits. Priced between $6500-8500, depending if your tractor is plumbed for it, it’s spendy. The thumb is mechanical / it has several pin slots you adjust for the sizes you are dealing with. I bought it from the dealership for $333, not sure what they are now! I picked up a woodland mills pto stump grinder for my ck2610, i love my tractor. Picked up a grapple from “everything attachments” now im working on getting the backhoe. Fun video right up until you pulled all that weight with the center of the bucket, made me cringe. Ive already had to rebend my quick tach plates back into alignment from some loader pulling ive done. Now i strictly pull with the hitch and if i need to lift its from both corners of the bucket. Does your tractor have the “540pto E” and “540pto” markings on the tach? I run everything on the “e” (economy idle) unless its really heavy then i kick it up to the higher level. So glad i went kioti rather than kubota or deere.

It takes time to remove a stump with a small backhoe, I've done it with a John deere 1025r with a backhoe, smaller and less hydraulics than your kioti. I'd get my big axe when I'd get a root exposed as I won't run my saw in the dirt. Kinda makes you wish you had a 10 ton excavator huh!
