LOVELY. These are exactly like the Beatrix Potter books I read when I was a child. I have seen this collection and thought of buying them for the fond memories. When I was a child, the books were cloth bound in very similar color, but with the exact same dust jacket. I have the Barnes and Noble book also, which is beautiful. It's a lovely collection and I hope you enjoy it with your little one for many years.

The FS version looks quite nice to me as well, but the only reason I haven't bought it is because they don't include all 23 tales like this set does.

Me too, could you please show the images inside? On Amazon i was reading the images are black and white, and the print quality is poor. Because it was pri t in china so on Amazon this collection got a lot of 1 star reviews (ripped of box and black and white images)

I have this set, and have read it countless times with my children and they still look brand new. Admittedly, I threw away all the dust jackets as soon as I received the box, as I didn’t want to “worry” about them. The folio society set is very nice, but the buckram wears, and I would worry about the pasted plates on the covers getting damaged. My youngest is only 3, and I prefer that she can enjoy these without supervision. By 5yo, IMO, kids are savvy enough to use folio books without damaging them.

If you’re looking to add lavishly illustrated children’s classics to your collection I would recommend illustrators Robert Ingpen and Micheal Hague. Scot Gustafson did THE most beautiful nursery rhymes. Michael Foreman has illustrated many abridged early classics (Beowulf, sir Gawain, etc...). Alan lee illustrated the children’s Iliad and odyssey by rosemary sutcliff and its a must have.

This is by far the most beautiful collection of eb white books. They are hardcover, color illustrated with fabric covers. They are enormous read aloud editions. The huge font is great for very young kids who are reading early. My kids read these so many times. Oop but can be purchased like new on the second hard market for almost nothing. 9780062571397 9780062571410 9780062571403 Edit: to further entice you... these books all have silver gilt around the edges and pretty ribbon markers. They are not smith sewn, but look like the Harry Potter Jim Kay books, some sort of combination of glue and signatures. The paper is nice and thick and NOT glossy.
