You just sprouted a fantastic idea in my head. I am a diesel mechanic who is in need of a new toolbox. I am going to make my own toolbox, my own modular way, myself!! SCREW paying Matco., Husky, Fap-Off, etc. thousands of dollars for a toolbox!! Wow i am so stoked to plan and build this. Ive been using extrusion for years both professionally through my job and with 3d printers as a hobby so i am super comfortable using extrusion. Man im excited for this. Thank you for the idea spark!! Ill try to make a build vlog too!

@@TheAluminumCarpentercurrently in cad phase right now shortly will begin build and I am really excited. I really am enjoying learning certain tricks from watching all your videos. I think the most useful and important trick you showed is having plates extended up above the table so you can easily square the extrusion right on the table, that is pure genius and just shows one of the limitless capabilities of aluminum extrusion. I am of the belief that aluminum extrusion is one of the greater things mankind has created because with it you can literally build anything you think of, it has a pure limitless possibilities

The amount of attention you spend on the littlest details never fail to amaze me. This seems simple at first glance, but the build process has to be appreciated. I’m always excited to see what’s more that’s coming from you(even though I still haven’t watched all your videos😅)

To be honest I don't like the holes in the corner profile. If I imagine those stands at the expo 9:50 with the holes from the end of the video, I think that would bring the aesthetics significantly down. Maybe only if you could 3D print some gray plugs, that might make it better. Also I don't like the screws that attach top acrylic. Some black countersunk screws would be better, but I do understand that would probably crack the acrylic. But anyway, these are just details. You did a great job with this project!

Inspirational work, thank you for sharing! Since the acrylic is opaque I would have just dremel'd out a notch on the bottom where the fastener stuck out. Also, would recommend going much slower when drilling aluminum so that you get longer shavings (swarf). This is easy with a sharp steel bit in aluminum, and will make your bits last longer and your holes cleaner!

Using a die grinder make a slit in the top of the thread insert, then you can use a flat head screw driver to wind in the insert.
@TheAluminumCarpenter

Will this be too much work?
@otrdavid6632
@otrdavid6632 Жыл бұрын
Very nice had a thought on installing the thread inserts. Get a longer bolt And nut. put the nut on the bolt and thread the reducer on. Tighten the nut down to the reducer which will lock it in place and you should be able to run it in. Hold the longer bolt us a wrench to back off the nut. no pushing and forcing it. add a large washer in front of the nut you used for locking insert and you know it is completely flush. I don’t know just a thought but would take an extra few min. Good job looks impressive.

LOL that is my current project. Not for RV, but I need to make a rack for the back of the vehicle to mount heavy duty slides for a big cooler style 12v fridge (overlanding type setup). Wanted to use extrusions because easy to build other things onto (batteries for it, maybe portable solar panel holder etc) and hoping for light and easy to remove or partial disassemble when not needed.

You have THE BEST aluminum extrusion build videos on Utube. However, adding music is so tiresome to the viewer. My ears hurt seconds into the video. If I turn off sound, I miss a great deal in voice instructions. Reading text takes twice as long. The point is that no DIY, DEMO, TOUR, WILDLIFE, OR COOKING VIDEO SHOULD EVER HAVE MUSIC. NO MUSIC PLEASE!!!!! IT IS SO INFURIATING, AND A HUGE TURN OFF. IT HURTS MY EARS TO WATCH YOUR VIDEOS. IS THIS THE VIEWER EXPERIENCE YOU ARE AIMING FOR? INSTEAD OF BEING SOOTHING, IT IS STRESSFUL AND MAKES ME ANGRY.
