I don't think this needs to spark controversy. It takes place 300 years later from Ghost of Tsushima and it won't be based off real events like the previous. There were literally female warriors in the first game that you could play as in multiplayer. This can work, and it will work. I believe in SuckerPunch.

I see so many other channels saying female Samurai. She is not a Samurai. Samurai is a social class. Bandits hold swords, Ronin hold swords, and neither is a Samurai. She is from a region north of Tokyo that was not considered part of Japan in this time period. She is probably not even Japanese. This is the lawless area just like the southwest in the Americas, hence the music choice seems to fit.

There was legit like almost 10 unique individual badass female warriors in the original ghost of Tsushima, Including one of the MAIN Allies/side stories with Lady Masako who wasn’t just a woman but also an OLDER woman at that. Ain’t nobody was complaining when the females in the first game where F’ng up the Mongols but suddenly it’s a problem now. I LOVED Jin but Anybody who’s main concern is that it’s a woman protagonist now shouldn’t be taken seriously. If the story is even jsut half as good as the original it’s till gonna be a banger, and I hoenslty expect them to go bigger and bolder with this one. Can’t wait. My prediction now is she’s a descendant of Lady Masako 👀

A few weeks late to the party. Regarding GoY: there were samurai who were women. There wwre other women who were outside of the samurai class who were still warriors in Japan. Some women even ruled Japan at various times. Some ninja/shinobi/assasins were women. Simply portraying this shouldnt be considered woke. In fact, women warriors existed in TON of ancient cultures, and women in general make up about half of the population, so idk why everyone screams "woke" simply by including a woman warrior who is the main character. Regarding AC Shadows: Yasuke was a real guy. Somehow a black man from somewhere in Africa made it to Japan. He was the only African and the first non Japanese person who became a samurai. Portraying this real life person shouldnt be considered woke. A bit if an odd choice for the first AC game to take place in Japan and for it not to have a Japanese main character, sure. But not woke.

Please keep in mind the following information: "Shadows" is a buggy mess that has been reported. Due to other titles underperforming, Ubisoft has decided to delay its release, rather than releasing it as they usually do. They are still expecting it to reach 10 million sales, like previous titles. By the way, since both games are set in the same time period, Sucker Punch has an opportunity to do something fun - they could add Yasuke as a supporting character in their game, or at least include a mythical tale/battle with him.
