take off is my favorite part of the flight, being the speed freak that I am. I never quit marveling while looking out the window on takeoff. and the fact that these heavy planes can do it. it is so much safer to fly nowadays. I remember always going to the airport in chicago (midway) to pick up my dad from business trips. probably a 707. glad I wasn't born earlier when flying wasn't all that safe!

I NEVER get this smooth of a flight. It’s always bumpy and choppy. This is flying the way it used to be. I’d fly more if all my takeoffs and landings were this smooth. Last time I flew into JFK I was on the edge of a wicked storm that was so turbulent that you could hear a gnat fart on that plane. Nobody was talking. Everybody was praying.

No One other airports have the luxury off parallel take off runways so you’ll never see that many planes for one runway. JFK and Heathrow have to make use of only 2 at a time. 1 for take off and 1 for landing.

Great video. I love watching planes take off and land. I remember taking a JetBlue flight out of JFK to Phoenix. Departure was scheduled for 8:00 pm. Severe thunderstorms hit the airport delaying all flights. My flight didn’t depart until 6:00 am the next morning. It was a nightmare.

Imagine how much fuel is being consumed on that airfield ALONE. And then, consider how many airfrields there are ALL OVER the world and how active airfields operate like this on a DAILY BASIS. That is so much fuel. Thats not even considering the millions and millions of people driving their automobiles, going boating on the ocean, cruises, large cargo boats, etc. Its amazing to think about.

Proud to say I got to fly onboard a Virgin Atlantic 747, MIA to the U.K., back in the day. We couldn’t go upstairs because there was a famous(at the time!) band up there. I just remember being overwhelmed at how large that plane was!
