I think the law should change because those yellow lines are painted there because sometimes people have Vans with ramps on the sides, and need that room. I would say that is perfectly reasonable as a biker myself, as long as it is not unnecessary damage (i.e. tipping it over just because you are upset or keying it) most of us are nice understanding people, and the main reason I park my bike in "Non-designated" parking is because I have had my bike knocked over by a truck whipping into the parking space beside it without paying attention, and i have had a mirror broken by someone flinging a door open while I was parked in the middle of my space. That being said, I would never impede a handicapped parking space or walkway. (and I don't feel like these guys were either)

@@Pyrrho_ in this case I did mean if the bike was in a designated disabled space and isn't meant to be their and if I as a disabled person was using the space as I should and if the bike got damaged then it gets damaged as far as I'm concerned. Too many people take advantage of these spaces when they don't need them. Though if a bike had a disabled badge obviously it's in the right space. Once someone was in a disabled bay and didn't have a badge I parked my chair in the way and they ended up being stuck there over 45 minutes. They were pissed as they said that they deserved to use the space as they just needed milk. I was temped to punch that bloke in his balls I was at the right heigh : ) Plus I love milkshakes

The old guy is exactly the problem nowadays. If it doesn't affect you in any way, just ignore it, it's not his job. If they wanna park there and get a ticket, it's their problem, not his. People just need to not interfere if it doesn't affect them imo. Ofcourse it's different if they were actually blocking him, but they weren't. EDIT: This applies to motorcyclists as well, I am one myself. If someone pulls out and all you had to do was let go of the gas, just honking or something or waving your hand is enough. Don't chase them or make a fuss about it. We got more important things in our life tbh. Ofcourse if it was life threatening, that's a whole different story.

incel army it is private property so they weren’t breaking any rules since it was privately owned and by the lots rules they are allowed to park there since it’s a large cross area. If it was a publicly owned lot then it’s a different story and they could be in trouble. Security said they are allowed there and the police said they are ok since it’s private property.

@incel army This isn't about "getting away" with anything. As I said, the old guy can definitely say it and voice his opinion and view on the matter. However he cannot order them do to anything, he is not in that kind of position. He stated the consequences of what would happen and they said "yeah okay I can accept that". It should have been done with that. Everyone can voice what they think about the situation, you just can't order other people. And yes, the old guy was right on that not being a parking spot, but seeing as it's the shop's property, they decide, and he doesn't.

@ I once worked at a Kroger and Walmart for a few years and in my time outside when pushing carts have seen many people who have needed that space for extending wheelchair ramps or space for wheelchair cherry picker to place the chair down next to truck for the handicap person. I don't care what the law says about the spot just don't be an asshole and park there when you're on a motorcycle and can park anywhere else.

The security guard in the last one needs to review his ADA codes, motorcycles definitely cannot park in that cross hatch area. That's a federal regulation, states can't adjust it. The access zone has to be a minimum of 60" wide and the length of the stall, but there's no maximum size. Besides, it's just a dick move to park in that space. You might not think you'll be in the way, but there's all kinds of people with all kinds of odd vehicles and equipment that need to be able to utilize that stall

While true, if that were the only or last space available the old guy would have a good argument, but there are many empty accessible spaces available around him. The confrontation wasn't needed. Also, no security guard is going to know the ADA codes, I have to know many of them for work but I wouldn't expect random people to know them.

I got stuck having to load my brother in law with severe cerebral palsy on a dangerous slope because someone decided to park right on the hash marks. Doesn't matter if it's private, or there's multiple parking spots. It's illegal. Them doing it teaches others it's acceptable.

@@hannahbanana7723 While I hear you, that guy was throwing a fit, tossing his military service around, pacing up and down, and clearly he could get out of his truck and hassle those guys thoroughly. The guy in the truck was looking for a confrontation and he found one, it wasn't necessary. He could have just told them they were in a handicap loading zone and when they didn't move he could call it in. The outcome may have been the same, but that's too much exuberance for something like that. Also, there's a pandemic going on and he doesn't need to be getting all up in people's faces like that, he's not even wearing a mask.

@@phatcyclist I disagree with you, as a rider myself I look for the proper parking spots. Abide by the rules and you won't have to deal with any hassle. The elder man was in his right place to be angry, I'm sure he's had previous encounters where bikes were in his way and riders were nowhere to be found. He had the opportunity to speak with the issue face to face and he did.
