Because everyone in rotc and jrotc are cocky little fuckers that think they are better than everyone and think they can call them selves marines and soldiers even though they dont deserve the uniform if they haven't earned it
@mk-15799 жыл бұрын
TheAtheistSwine Most of the best officers come from ROTC, while the worst come from Direct Commission. Sure they can be cocky, but they have better leadership than those of Direct Comission, who come into the military knowing nothing about it. And some of the ROTC have prior service experience. That's the path I'm currently taking. ROTC makes good officers bc they spend more time learning true leadership and the Army Values. (I'm in the army, but the same can go for other branches) And some in ROTC already live those values due to prior service. The Direct Commission, they're the worst bc they come in not knowing anything. They're children with power.

Its so funny, the first time I got my ACUs I thought I was a complete badass and so did most of the cadets in my class. I didnt mind wearing it in public and thought it was cool showing off. After a few weeks of doing that, I honestly got so bored of it and felt like a complete idiot. I was more excited just getting back to my civilian self rather than stand out in the crowd.
@Willysmb449 жыл бұрын
+Andrew Cho Yeah, when I was in ROTC and any of us went out to bars and such, we had an unwritten rule that NONE of us wear anything that says Army on it. We had the haircuts, in a town with no other military presence, so it was already obvious to anyone that we were ROTC cadets. None of us wanted to advertise any more than we had to. In fact, it's well known that some university staff don't like the military much so if we had professors like that, we didn't have to wear our BDUs (yes, I'm that old) to those classes. I almost didn't graduate because someone who didn't like military types and tried to sabotage my grades my final semester. Thankfully, she failed to stop it and I graduated and gold the gold bar of obedience after all...It doesn't take long for the cool factor of the uniform to wear off for the person wearing it, thankfully.
@andrewcho97799 жыл бұрын
+Willysmb44 When we got our ACUs, we were told to not do anything stupid in them as we represent the Army. We also made it so that we do not ever wear anything Army related when we go off to parties. I did see Merchant Marine guys go to bars in uniforms and my first reaction was that they were shitbags thinking they can get girls just because of their uniforms. I went to a very liberal school in NYC so there were many who had a very negative view of the military but they never had the balls to overtly express them in public. I was also very grateful that the professors, no matter how liberal they are, were very respectful and treated us like any other student. Normally they wouldnt even accept absences unless I was sick but they took exception and let me skip class whenever the Veterans Day and Memorial Day Parades happened so I can march. I am honestly very grateful things today are not as bad as how it used to be back in the old days. I left ROTC a while ago but I do hope to become an officer once I start going into medical school and get the HPSP scholarship.

I am sorry that I have made you upset, bud, but I am assuming that you are an adult, so come on, I know you can do better than that.. Also, if you are going to try to be hurtful, use some big boy language they taught you at your 19th century kindergarten, and perhaps some correct grammar, and if you're feeling real smart, throw in some proper punctuation, and next time, it will be a little bit harder for a high schooler to roast you, you half-witted, cluster-fuck, piece of trash below-par, fight picking fuck-up of a father. 1:22 "Thank you for your service" LMAO. That's very funny considering how most MS1 and MS2 students don't have commitments to the army. Along with the fact that you aren't actually even officially in the army yet. (except for the ones who took the scholarships)

Oh God the GCU dorms. I remember watching you guys doing "patrols" past the Thunderdome

That MS1 is really accurate bc my friend legit said “I think I’m gonna do airborne school.” I looked at him, and just said tell my how you feel about that as an ms2

Lol my battalion does ruck marches quite often and we not only get that "thank you for your service", we also get recorded by citizens passing by

You'd be surprised how often even a jrotc cadet like myself gets the whole thanks for your service thing

+Sidenote on uniform days you have to wear your whole uniform without changing i think
@omnomnomynous9 жыл бұрын
In ROTC, yeah, that's typically how it is. But in JROTC (highschool) you're really only inclined to wear it on your way to school, at school, and on your way home from school. My SMI got onto some kid that wore his uniform into a doughnut shop that morning.

The “the thank you for your service” is agreed upon with all the cadets across every program, we didn’t do anything so what do tell them?

"This one time... ... ... at LDAC" Kinda makes you wonder... anyone ever end up at LDAC listening to a story that starts "this one time... ... ... at band camp"?
@Itstwofourteen6 жыл бұрын
MGE Dawn doing this ROTC gig, and so far it has been good. But if somebody every starts a new conversation with "This one time at LDAC/CIET/CLC/Advanced Camp..." I'll just wait for them to be over and then reply with "Well, this one time in [dramatic pause] Afghanistan..." Is that a little bit petty? Perhaps. But it would be funny as hell.

Ammo pouches are perfect for storing the snacks you get from MRE's when on FTX. Had 3 pouches. One had M&M's, one had sunflower seeds, and one had a collection of toffee and caffeine mints (the most heavenly thing spawned by man).

LOL I watched this before I was actually in ROTC but now that I am I can't stop laughing at the "In association with PT belt productions." Also, the freaking group messages! We use Group Me, and since it connects with texts I'll sometimes come out of a lecture and find around 30 messages waiting for me.
