I can't really see those cadets fighting in a war, and sleeping in a mud pit while its raining... But yeah, most of them are gonna get a desk job. To be honest, i have tons of respect for officers, becoming one is pretty hard education... But sometimes you just see that a lot of those cadets are not fit for military duty. (not all of them)

Fortitude for the Field is a thing obtained *in* the field, not the classroom. ROTC Officers have the ability to flourish as much as OCS Officers if they are willing to listen to their NCO's and learn from experience.

FREE TUITION? I pinned on my gold bar at 28. There was cutoff for scholarship by age back then. If you were done at 25 or older, you couldn't get a scholarship. I had better grades than anyone I pinned on with, with a tougher major, and I HAD TO PAY FOR EVERY MOMENT of it. I had a full time job on top of it all. I hardly remember anything from my last 2 years in college for that reason.

So I have a question about ROTC, do I need to take ROTC in college or is there a way to take it without being in college. Another question once I complete ROTC do I have to serve immediately or do I get to choose when I can server, or do they give me a time and day.

I am not in ROTC, or the military, but I plan to join. I've gotten all this information from research from credible sources. I cannot answer your first question. However, what usually happens is you get your orders in the last semester of MSIV (senior) year and go to a basic officers course and training for your MOS (for Marines and Army, the Navy uses a rate system and I forget what the Air Force uses) after you graduate.
