I flip full-time, and yeah..bad buys will always be a thing. Sometimes I'm surprised when I take a chance on an item, and often times I'm warming my feet with my sourcing budget lol. I saw your eBay handle... I came up in Benton Harbor. I live in TN these days, but I've seen a lot of flippers do really well in your area. Especially east of K-zoo, as there's a lot of Chi-town escapees with second homes along the lakeshore. Keep hustlin' bro!

I have ZERO tolerance for used / newer board games . 1) checking all the pieces, 2) SHIPPING COSTS. 3) Too many already listed. To make "a few bucks" is not worth it .

I can’t get out of bed for any net profit under 10. My whole store is set up to net me 10 and up. I live by rules shipping has to always pay for the shipping and materials that are used to package the item and the shipping label. I never bend on this rule. Also my buy cost is always strick on what I sell. If it’s over my rule I don’t care how fast it sells I won’t pay for it unless I make ten or more net. Not gross net. And this has been working for me since 2012. If you live by rules you can’t lose.

After selling casually on eBay for 10+ years; i really only want to now pick up items i can profit at least $30 on. I will occasionally sell things for $20 profit, but as COGS and shipping increase every year, so do my target profits.

Right on. You’re right. Shipping is only part of gross sales but not net profits. eBay takes their percentage based on total amount paid to you, purchase price plus shipping costs (and taxes collected too. That’s a sneaky thing eBay does) that the buyer pays, so it all gets counted as “gross sales”. The gross is also what our taxes are based on/what eBay reports on our 1099s.

Always buy those Wii sleeves and extra components that add to a future sale. Wait until you have extra controllers and add 5$ on with the sleeve. Make$ and quicker sale.

Shopping at ANY Goodwill is a huge mistake. The managers SKIM off the top for eBay. And the ones that don't skim for Ebay - take the stuff home for themselves.
