I worked for ten years in the private banking industry in South Africa- that's when I learnt that it's the global financial and banking system, not the global economy- which is the root cause of poverty and homelessness. Scottish banks should be nationalized and run for the benefit of Scottish citizens, not for the benefit of private share-holders. This way, funds can be created by the national bank to help all these desperate people by way of food vouchers, rent payments, and medical payments, until they get back on their feet.

Had a mortgage on a flat in Glasgow that he had been paying for years and was always working until the government issued the SIA badge that was required for him to be a security guard. He was left for about 2 years with no way to make money while the Scottish government dragged their feet on the problem and when the issue was finally resolved he had to then find a new way to make a living as they would not allow him to apply for an SIA badge. Point being, the current government ran by Nicola Sturgeon are completely incompetent and do not care for nothing more than Twitter likes and support from areas of the country they do not effect. I know it's too late now but why 8 kids? My husband and I were mindful of our future, we have one child, he is grown now and doing well. We could afford to feed him and house him, we both worked very hard, we explained to him that although we would have liked to have more children we knew that life would become really difficult if anything happened to our jobs or our health, we instilled in him that with multiple children life can become unmanageable. He and his wife have chosen not to have children, no question as to why. I just don't get it!

They forgot to say the faster the West rose the larger the difference between the haves and the have nots within countries. After watching the video and reading the comments, I came to realise it is not the patriarchal nor individual human rights issues that plague such societies, but the lack of personal responsibility each individual exhibits in the collective that throws a monkey wrench in the proposed system. You cannot want something while doing a different thing, then expecting it or somebody else to get it right for you! The health of a collective system is not led by the leadership; it is dictated by each individual acting in synchrony to a collectively agreed plan. The government does not lead, but conduct an orchestra of individuals who must be responsible to play their individual parts in synchrony to the others, as agreed collectively. Imagine an orchestra made up of soloists, whose main objective is to express their individuality... the conductor is then made redundant and the music rubbish.

I hope one day that food, shelter, electricity, etc. (the necessities) will just be available to all. I'm just not sure if (1) people really need materialistic things and (2) should we allow people to have as many kids as they want. We should end child poverty, but not sure if that means more money especially if the parents are the ones who are in control of that money. Some parents make their kids' well-being a priority, while others don't - that's just the truth.

When thatcher started to allow the sale of council houses ( it was a big vote winner ) i think housing officials would have forseen thst it would create big problems to come. Industry shutting down but nothing coming to replace it leaving communities gradually going downhill. Its taken 20,30,40 years for the full impact of these problems to show. How many people would have thought that foodbanks etc would become commonplace ? High street shops been closed for years , no shoppers with money to spend ? Any comments appreciated.
