Rude was awesome & he paid his dues. ESPN used to air a show called Legends of World Class Championship Wrestling. It was older WCCW programs, a lot of David Von Erich era stuff. I remember seeing him here early in his career as jobber Rick Rudd & already looked fantastic. I particularly remember him getting squashed by Kimala, barely getting in an offensive move. I'm glad he eventually got his push. My mother R.I.P. had a huge crush on him. I took her to a WCW house show, where he was in the main event against Ron Simmons. He did his spot where he got partially depantsed & showed his ass. My mom lost her mind. She had so much fun that night & I will always remember it.

Rude was (and is) without a doubt in my top 10 favorites ever in the business. One of the greatest heels of all time and it's an absolute travesty that he had a career ending injury as he was finally getting his deserved due when he went to WCW. So many great feuds he had. Jake Roberts, Ric Flair, Ricky Steamboat, Roddy Piper, Warrior, etc. Plus he was also a part of some of the greatest factions in wrestling history with The Dangerous Alliance, Degeneration X & New World Order. Miss the hell outta him. #RIPRick #CutTheMusic #KeepTheNoiseDown

Marcus B That's not entirely true. He knew how to work the crowds, wherever he went, and they wanted to see him get his ass kicked. That was great business for Warrior in WWF and Sting in WCW. Those feuds did well for the companies in question. I would say that Rude was the best heel in either company during his time there. Tell us, did Sgt Slaughter draw a dime? They put the belt on him for a couple months. Iron Sheik too. It can be argued that WWF would've done even better business with Rude as champion for a few months, building up a feud with Hogan or another with Warrior.

I can say the defense of being an asshole to people based on it is hard to get around and fit into shit doesn't float in life. Yeah Andre had gigantism and was bigger than me, but to be fair he didn't REALLY take as good a care of himself as he could have, namely continuing to wrestle... anyway that's my 2 cents...
