I'm Latina with really big curly hair and tan skin that i have always been ashamed of because I can never see myself in aesthetics (like the coquette aesthetic as i literally don't have the qualities that they romanticize) but this video made me feel so happy inside. I truly love this aesthetic and i'm so glad to be able to see representation of bipoc people. It is truly breath of fresh air, thank you so much !! 🫶💗

This is a vid on a fashion aesthetic and the comments should be on the fashion aesthetic and I will get to that but my overarching reaction to this is pride. Just being honest. Pride in beautiful, hugable, loveable April; pride in Dion. They are both lovely, confident, fashionable young women and GOOD PEOPLE. Dion, Shabby Princess DOES fit your natural style SO well. In just about every other aesthetic color is so key imo. But in Shabby Princess you nail it completely: you can't have THAT MUCH COLOR on THAT MUCH FABRIC. Terrific call by you. Another key insight: I was not a fan of Cottage Core and you say that you prefer Shabby Princess bc it's "more dress up" than C.C. Totally! There is nothing shabby about April's aesthetic. A final key: Shabby Princess made for "being outside." I'm writing this early in the morning and I'm old and my brain is not identifying why this aesthetic and not others so much is made for being outside but you are absolutely correct in that. I can't see this look working as well indoors. A final, final key: natural hair. That is April's confidence in being a Black woman. No weaves, straightening b.s., CELEBRATE your hair! Now: one critical point: You, Dion, are always inclusive of plus-size models and women of color in the aesthetics you profile, or point out as criticism that the aesthetic is not inclusive. But there weren't a lot of skinny white girls in this vid. You are, and the look works on you. I would like to see how Shabby Princess looks on skinny white girls. Ending on my first point: This was so bold of you and I am so proud. A million thumbs up!

When I saw this post I genuinely got so excited! I loveeee the Shabby Chic/Princess style & aesthetic. I haven’t even completed the video yet and I already love it 🤍 & thank you many times for your inclusion of black women we lack the representation for women of color in general in a lot of things. This video is truly a breath of fresh air! Sending you lots of love Dion!

Thank you for this sweet comment! My number one goal on this channel is that everyone can see someone they identify with bc fashion is just adult dress up! It’s supposed to be fun and happy!

As a poc, I love that she includes people like me who would not be considered attractive by society, like bigger girls or dark girl. Love her

I love this aesthetic because of my wavier hair and because the vibes are nice and most people in it are nice. Plus adore you suggesting thrifting because that's my favorite thing to do in my spare time!

Can you please do dark naturalism/woodland goth etc? I love cottagecore but have a dark aesthetic and I would love to see a video about that look even though it was a mentioned a little in your cottagecore video.

You rock! If I had an aesthetic it would be the rockstar girlfriend, but this is something I would like to incorporate in my wardrobe. I love the way you represent for full figure and black women in fashion aesthetics. Me being a curvy black woman who will be 50 in a few weeks, I have owned seen so many looks and trends come and go. I love dressing up and being vibrant in how I represent myself. Right now I'm paying special attention to my natural hair so I can rock it all summer. I think I'm a candidate for being a shabby princess! Thanks Dion!

This is such a cool aesthetic. I'm absolutely taking part in spring! I love the balance of royalcore and cottagecore. I also realized that coquette has a teenaged focus/vibe. So if you're an older coquette, you'd start to slip into royalcore because you'd swap out the more youthful things for more mature pieces. This is a great aesthetic for sure.
