as a Latina who loves aesthetics closer to the grungy side of things, one of my biggest fears is being perceived as dirty in a non-pretty white model way because of how I dress. so even though the rock star girlfriend aesthetic is something I love, I can't see myself letting myself get into that because of the stereotypes I'd be reinforcing which sucks. Specifically, black and Latino people are stereotyped as such, so I see why many black and Latina women would be hesitant to get into the style. Great vid though, you 100 % deserve more subs!! can't wait for more vids like this

The sad thing about being an aesthetic bound person is getting lost in it. Your personality shouldn't be based on how you dress, if you're hardcore it comes off naturally but if you don't feel that way you shouldn't make it who you are to do certain things you don't like; drug abuse, physical and mental. Be yourself and the things you like about the aesthetic will just roll into your life no matter your colour or size. Also remember that the more time you put into your hobbies and passions the stronger you become. Don't k*!l yourself for an aesthetic!!!!

holy shit i was looking for this yesterday and i see this pop up today. i've always been into this aesthetic but never had a word for it. to me they're making the most out of their life, creative and pursuing their passion. she's independent; a femme fatale. something about her draws people to her, probably the sense of mystery and charm in her air & she treats those people with kindness and empathy. in terms of 'aesthetic', this has been around for ages without a proper label on pinterest & tumblr - gritty photos taken in the dark on film, very sexy & not trying too hard with a vintage but personal sense of fashion; almost a mix of model off duty and the riot grrrl & rock aesthetics. love this video tho, i've never had one completely describe my sense of style and aesthetic. hope your channel sees all the love and support you deserve

Honestly in general rock stars or just celebrities are terrible people to date, yeah at first glance their charisma, fame, looks and many is enticing to many but with them being put on a pedestal gives them inflated egos and they will have more power in the dynamics due to their fame, having way too many choices so they probably won’t treat anyone they date as special since there would also be more people that would want them, substance abuse due to their stressful lives, like in the long run terrible to date

Just found your channel through your coquette aesthetic video! Love this content. Fun fact about Priscilla's hair- she always says Elvis made her dye it to his preference and to this day Tura Satana (the Japanese American dancer/actress/martial artist that he dated/allegedly proposed to before Priscilla) claims she shaped his attraction to long voluminous dark hair and heavy makeup. She says a lot of dubious things, so not necessarily a trustworthy source, but it is sort of entertaining to imagine that to be true. One note though as a fellow lover of commentary KZbin and a Memphis native with deep ties to the delta blues tradition - when it comes to early Rock history (e.g. the intricate process of synthesis between black gospel music, black soul music, and white hillbilly music, folk hymns and early country) commentary YT seems to have a flawed methodology of making sweeping statements without citing music historians specifically or experts on the artists in question, the artists themselves, or even their contemporaries. Southern music culture, which has never been linear as these statements suggest, is hard to understand without digging deeply into primary sources. B.B King, Jackie Wilson, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, and experts at the Stax Museum, National Civil Rights Museum, Graceland, and the Memphis Rock n' Soul Museum are better source material than admittedly very well-meaning analysts attempting to apply the modern urban music landscape to an era occupied by poor southern sharecroppers and their sons and daughters. Sorry to nitpick, but it irks me since we rarely get consulted on such things as these sweeping notions become passed around as if they are just fundamental truths. It is an ongoing issue between music historians/pop culture historians and pop sociologists. Keep up the cool content! Can't wait to see what else you create!!

Woooow! This pin points my 16-21y.o. me so well. I never felt that I belonged that much to the 2014 Tumblr Grunge, because this was it for me! And I definitely agree on all the negative aspects you mentioned. Those shaped me and formed my personality in a really bad way. I had to learn to stand up for myself and to acknowledge my boarders the really hard way, because I was so messed up with those misogynistic and harmful ideas of how a woman should behave. This video is it for me, this is therapy! Thank you soooo much! Short history: First I loved the sound of old rock music, like Queen, the Doors, Guns n Roses,... Then I discovered Tumblr, which had a community of praising these old Rockstars. Paired with the destructive Tumblr Grunge, and the ideal of a groupie girlfriend, that was a toxic ride. Still love the music to this day, but I threw away this mindset. Please stay safe everyone and just do what you are comfortable with!!!

Now I ask you---was that not marvelous? I liked this BETTER than "Coquette" and I really didn't think I would ever say that. Everything that made "Coquette" so special, the evident preparation, the tutorial note reading, the tone of your voice, were present here and at your ending, "Would I risk it all to date Jon Bon Jovi or Mick Jagger? You bet your ass.", I clapped spontaneously. The downsides of this trope, the 14-18 year old girls, I didn't even know about. This is truly ew gross (and criminal for half of those ages). The drug usage, yeah, that does go with the territory. Your suggestions of how to rehabilitate the rock star image girlfriend are in line with he vague image I had in my head of the Ideal (which I didn't even know was in my head until this video). You say "powerful". In my notes on this vid I wrote several times "independent." With either the R.S.G. can say "No." No to being just arm candy; no to taking ALL the drugs. Kate Moss, who you mention, is the instantiation of my ideal: too glamorous to dress glamorously in public--"That's my day job!", too beautiful to be ostentatious dressing it--"black, white, red": yes--too independent to be threatened by philandering, "Yeah, I sleep with other guys?" You mentioned several rock star--girlfriend couples and in your "problems" section dissected them, one being the lack of women of color and plus-size R.S.G.'s. As you were going through the couples I was thinking and wrote down some, I won't lengthen this comment with them as I rejected them, but one I thought of as I wrote this, one couple that meets your empathetic, ethical "on the other hand". Dions and Peons I give you Iman and David Bowie..."Would I risk it all? You bet your ass."--that should be on a monument somewhere.

How about Pamela Courson, who was Jim Morrison’s girlfriend?

Where’s Alexa Chung? She’s the definition of rock star girlfriend. Maybe not so relevant now but was definitely influential in the 2010s

she was very much featured in my indie sleaze video!

Hard to swallow but the romantisation is sooo real. (Im a sixteen year old upper middle class white girl I am kinda preconditioned to love The Beatles. (Thanks mum) like seriously...) No lie in the end I literally like women but i have the biggest crush on Paul McCartney (who was 11 when my GRANFATHER was born - concerrning anyway...)

So surprised you didn't mention Tura Sutana, who Priscilla Presley based her whole look after. Pamela DesBarres is also iconic.💕💕

Anita Pallenberg. You can’t mention Kate Moss without mentioning her

Penny Lane was based off of Pamela Des Barres who was 19 when she started being a groupie.

As classic rock fan let me correct you. Chuck Berry INVENTED rock n’ roll. Elvis POPULARIZED it and to say he adopted Berry’s personality and gained stardom just for being white is extremely ignorant. He gave credit where credit was due, and helped other black musicians. Look at interview of Little Richard where he talks about Elvis. To discredit Elvis’ influence and talent just because he’s white is utterly disrespectful.
@dionthetaurus2 жыл бұрын
i never said he wasn’t talented, but being a good looking white guy playing traditionally african american music definitely helped his career. to act like his whiteness didn’t get him half way there over the heads of Chuck Berry and other black artists is also ~disrespectful~

I LOVE your videos but stop spreading lies about John Lennon. Both of his wives said he wasn't abusive and he had done a lot of things to prove he wasn't misogynistic and racist. He did treat his son very poorly though. Overall your video is amazing but i just thought i should point this out
@dionthetaurus2 жыл бұрын
bahahahaha tell that to Julien Lennon who often talked about his fathers rage and cheating and alcoholism😭
@purpIeslurpee2 жыл бұрын
@@dionthetaurus Well talking abt misogyny i think it would be little misogynistic to listen to his 60 year old from experience he had when he was literally 4 and not his OWN WIVES about what THEY went through. He was a cheater, but never hurt his family physically and he wasn't alcoholic. I haven't heard abt the rage part though so idk anything abt it.
