Thank you about the hair. I spent 30 plus years as a police officer and kept it short. Now I am retired and have long hair. It looks great. So many people have said, "oh I thought you would have kept it short now that you are over 50." Good thing I am not armed anymore. Lol.

Beth, thank you for this message I'm 66 and I agree with just about every word you said. I'm not hiding my age and I'm often offended by favorite bloggers whose platform seems to always be, how to look younger! I don't want to look younger, I just want to be the best Me, I can be. The one thing I question is hair. My hair like yours has always been short, now it's shorter! But I do know a couple of ladies where the long hair really does drag their faces down and they look much older to me. For them shoulder length would probably work better. I love long silver locks, but I think you have to study your face in a mirror and decide if the long hair is still attractive or not. Thanks again for this video. So many women are so insecure as they get older, and they need to hear, It's ok! We don't need to be 20 again!

I agree with you. I'm 57 and I am proud of my age! I don't want to "look good for my age," I want to just, look good. I've always had my hair on the short side too, only because I have so many issues with my hair. I've found a bob which suits me and I've kind of stuck to it. I do let it grow out and sometimes I do different versions of bobs but that's definitely my preference.

It’s great to see that you are still wearing shorter length skirts and not feeling you have to cover your surgery scar. I’ve had a big hunk taken out of my leg due to cancer. For a while I felt I should cover my legs by wearing longer skirts and dresses or even long trousers for summer. Just was too hot. So if folk have a problem seeing a scar, well it’s their problem not mine! I enjoy your blogs thank you Beth.

Let’s also be supportive of women who like to dress up. I have always loved fashion and I dress for me. The trend towards overall casualness is not my style. I understand you need to take into consideration the clothes to the occasion, but if I want to wear a dress to the office that is my choice. I have been made to feel and have been asked “ where are you going all dressed up” ? I love Ralph Lauren dresses and pencil skirts coupled with silk blouses. I take care of my skin, hair and makeup. I embrace theses things and am not doing it to impress anyone.

I lived in Paris, France for ten years and not once did any French person say I "looked good for my age". In France, your age does not matter at all. French women embrace aging so much that I don't they even think aging at all!! When I got back stateside is when I was told "you look good for your age". I finally got disgusted with the ageism is our society that the last time a woman at work who loves to tell me remind me about my age and she is 20 years younger than me and overweight. I am fit and I dress very well. I responded, "I look good for any age including your age". She stopped giving her "back handed compliments" after that!

Love it. Thanks for challenging the usual script. Simply, you look good, avoid looking frumpy, have a haircut that suits you, long or short. I'd like to add, if I see one more style tip video that favours a "heel" as "better" than a flat, I'll scream. In my 50's and haven't worn heels for decades, nor can I. I refuse to be uncomfortable. Wearing shoes bad for your feet (high, pointy, hard, poor fit) will usually have consequences later in life. You can have the most expensive, most beautiful shoes in the world, but if you aren't comfortable in them there's no point.

I'm only 5'2" tall. Almost any skirt is below my knees and a lot of them have hems that can't be shortened. I just go with whatever it is. If it's long, it's long. In that case, I try to go with a boho feel for daytime. I'd like to wear short because I also live in a warm place but I don't find enough things that can be shortened. I try to pair a longer skirt with a barer top. Not revealing but sleeveless, or with straps or even off the shoulder.

Thank you!! Spot on about the typical age related beauty topics that are always talked about for us over 40, 50, 60! What we should do, should not do and why frumpy is a word attached to older women! I love it when women such as yourself promote aging as positive and beautiful!! I have learned to dress the way I feel comfortable abs wear my hair and makeup according to what works best for me. I am 63! The only issues I struggle with are wearing styles that are geared more for much younger body types. The reason is because I am petite at 5’2 and I weigh 120. So to find clothes that fit I have to shop in the junior department which styles are for teens! Anyway, admire your attitude and classy attire!

My sister passed on at the age of 36 after a courageous battle from cancer. So every year we live is a gift! we should be blessed & proud to say our age! However, women will avoid telling their age ( & weight) because this country encourage them to do so after 39! Yet older men are supported when they brag about their age and weight. Such shallow double standard! You dress like my amazing sister Angela which is a HUGE compliment! Angela look like Susan Luccie from All My Children. Hi Beth...I’m 76 and appreciate all your videos and positive comments for us who are over 50+. We’re healthy, vibrant and don’t want to sit home in rocking chairs! I go to the gym for Silver Sneaker classes three days per week and enjoy going out with friends as well as playing Mahjongg to challenge my mind. We can do what we enjoy at this age and “be the best we can be”.

Love this! There was a meme going round: 20 things women over forty shouldn’t wear. When you clicked on it, it said: 1 - 20: the weight of other people’s expectations and prejudices! I loved that! I’ve kept my long hair, and I wear skirts of various lengths. Red lipstick too!

I was excercising and finally got my weight down to where I was on the thinner side. I was riding my home exercise bike last spring and I was on the last ten minutes of my work out. I suddenly felt something down there if you know what I mean. I got off of my bike and went to the bathroom and got a mirror and my uterus prolapsed to second stage! I agree with the legnth of a skirt. I had lots of frumpy long dresses. I have gotten rid of all of my frumpy dresses this year and revamped my entire wardrobe. I know wear that little black dress. I have gained 40 pounds because of menopause and my prolapsed uterus but I actually feel better about myself like this. I got a cute long layered bob and started to henna my hair black again. I have gone back to my goth style vibe with a short black cute stylish dress fish nets and Doc Martins. I used to have black hair and dress for rock n roll shows when I was younger. My little sister said I looked the best like that. I couldn't see it then like that but now I do. I am a strict vegan now going on 4 years and I feel so much better. My cholesterol is back to normal and my mind is clearer. So rock that skirt above the knee ladies if that's what makes you feel happy and not down in the frumps. Lol

You DO look fabulous! Speaking of short hair, I just recently got a pixie cut, myself. I’ve never had my hair cut this short! It wasn’t because I was about to turn 50, I just wanted to change. Now that it’s grown out just a little, I absolutely love it! It feels really classy, and is so much easier than my longer naturally curly hair. An Hayward’s hair has always intrigued me, but I don’t think I could pull that off. She’s another gorgeous supermodel with super short hair. You totally rock it, too!

I LOVE this Beth, so many other fashion bloggers are trying so hard to look younger than they are, and one I know of in particular freaks out every time she can’t get her hair colored every so many weeks, during COVID lock down I thought she was going to have a breakdown because she couldn’t get her hair colored. It’s ridiculous the way some of them are and she was getting some pretty nasty comments at the time because people were going through a lot with the Covid and all she could worry about was getting her hair colored.

I am so happy to FINALLY hear someone counter the age myths that so many style bloggers are putting out there and most are quite younger than 60 having absolutely no concept as to how it feels to be 60 and older. I am turning 68 this year and feel quite vibrant and alive in my skin. I wear the skinny jeans, above the knee skirts/dresses, shorts, off shoulder tops, and I sport long hair. In the summer, I love to wear sandals and open toe shoes so I will hit those nails with florescent orange or coral polish! Since being in lockdown for the past year, my hair has grown quite a bit longer and I have no intentions on cutting it. My fashion style is quite eclectic and, oftentimes, fun! I have my classic look days; however, some days I choose a more cheeky look. I am not going to choose outfits that are inappropriate and would not choose clothing items that are going to make me appear “trashy”. Clothes should be fun and playful, yet appropriate for the occasion. How we dress should embrace our inner beauty and project confidence and self-awareness. I am certainly not one who can be put in a box...heck...I couldn’t even get in the box as that seems to be my cat’s favorite place to hang! Personal style seems to evolve over the years, so it is going to be interesting to see where this journey takes me over the upcoming years!! Thanks for a great video!!

Hello Beth, great video, I am 54 & I agree with everything you say. I too, have had very short hair since forever! I love your hair cut & colour, & the colour of your eyes is beautiful by the way. In the media there is too much negativity towards older women, what we "should" not do or not wear once we hit 50, I think that being the best version of ourselves is a great philosophy. I have a t-shirt that says "I may be old, but at least I got to see all the great bands" which is actually true!

Absolutely - couldn't agree more. I'm catching up with your older videos so sorry to be late to the party. The well known UK TV cook Nigella Lawson said how lucky she felt when she turned 50 because she had lost her sister to cancer in her 30s. You are absolutely right that growing older is a privilege and something to celebrate and be positive about. We are lucky to have made it this far. I'm 4 years on from a cancer diagnosis myself and luckily I seem to have got over it but boy am I happy to be here and will be celebrating reaching 63 next birthday.
