I left out a few hair coverings such as hats and turbans, choosing to focus on the most popular hair coverings in my community and among other Orthodox Jews that I know. It made me incredibly sad when you mentioned that you felt you needed to wear wigs more to avoid anti-Semitism. On the subject of wigs, if your wig is synthetic, dying it is problematic. Even if it's real hair dying it lighter is a project. It will be an adventure either way. Since the original color is light it may take the gray dye but it will come out a different shade than what's on the box unless you bleach it white first. Try the hair on the underside first to see how it looks.

Hey, I'm also catholic and I'd love to veil full time. I actually used to veil quite a lot (and still do) but not always and often (funnily enough) rather at home then in public, because especially here where I live (Poland) it's totally not a thing among Catholics (or anyone) and I don't want to confuse anyone. So I wanted to ask you - do you veil just in church or full time? And how do you explain it to people who ask you ( 1Cor 11 + modesty in general, I presume) 😉 Plus do you know more head-covering Catholics where you live or are you more alone in this :-) ?
@mariaeckert98283 жыл бұрын
@@waleria2586 Hi there! I know many Catholic ladies who veil! My hometown is near Mexico and it's a more common practice among Mexican Catholics. Now I live near Korea and it seems even more common amongst Korean ladies, nearly all of them are veiled in mass. For myself, I only veil in church, especially in the presence of the tabernacle or the eucharist. When I get asked about it, I give a few different answers. One is that all the women I admire the most are veiled (the Blessed Virgin, Saint Thérèse, etc.). Another is that veiling is a symbol of something precious and holy, as shown by how we veil the alter. Lastly, my favorite explanation is that it makes me feel humble and puts me in the right space mentally for worship.

Hating a religion is not racism. It’s not liking an ideology that another person prescribes to. It’s like how many people hate Trumpers who wear the MAGA hat like some religious covering. It’s because the hat means something just as the scarf does, and people could not agree with the idea behind it. Now, that doesn’t mean that they should be rude but it’s not racism or any other oppression. It’s a difference in opinion.

I just found your channel last night after I got hold from work and I’m really enjoying it so far! I grew up in a very strictly orthodox (Ashkenazi) family/community, so learning and seeing how things work in a Sephardi home are so interesting to me. I personally find the topic of Tznius very interesting because of how stringent it was in my family and how diverse it’s interpretation can be. For example, my mother had her head shaved after the Chasuna and wears a sheitel with a beret/small hat or a kertchif for the most part, whereas my friends wife wears a fallback sheitel with a headband like you do sometimes! I’m now part of a “regular” orthodox /modern orthodox Shul and again the level of modesty changes again.. Its so amazing that many woman enjoy and find empowerment in covering their hair. Agreed snood is reliable and comfortable, I like my ears secure but not tight and for me doesn't slip or get in the way with ties, knots or tails when it comes to taking care of kids or housework or gardening

Hi! New sub here, I’ve just discovered your channel and this is the first of your videos that I watch, I love the way you explain things! I converted to Islam a couple years ago but my ancestors on my dad’s side are all Jews from Poland, I love learning about Jewish traditions and channels like yours really help as my dad is not religious himself and never really mentioned anything about his family’s religion to my sister and I, I’m glad I found your channel so I can get to know more on your beliefs and way of life! I hope anti semitism is not too out of control in the US and that you can still feel safe while outside, I hate how something so simple as the faith in God can make you a target of violence, what a crazy world we live in…

I do like your wigs. The longer one that is thicker makes you look younger and I like that one the best. You do not have to place gray hair in your wig. Unless you get older. The hair color looks great with your complexion. 😊

Such an interesting post. Never realised there was so much to it. If I covered my hair, I think I'd go for the 'pouffey' look with the black scarf and with the tails tucked in. The turquoise scarf was really pretty too.

I have worn scarves in a headband kind of style for years... mostly because I have a big head and commercial headbands give me a headache! 🤪 But if I were to do a full head covering... I think I would do the turban style and add embellishments to further accessorize! I love the variety of options and I especially like your scarves that are shiny! 💖

I’m also in Texas and I’m happy my family has grown up in a blended community and schools and my heart just broke a little when you said you face anti semitism. I am sad that we are still here but I pray we keep moving forward and your light and spirit will show others how we are all one.

Thank you so much for your prayers! I appreciate it so much as do all the Jewish people ❤️❤️❤️ I love that you cover your hair at Mass and when entering a church :) Had I remained Catholic I think I would have adopted that as well. Though I don’t remember anyone who did it.
@jessramirez57213 жыл бұрын
@@jaroffireflies It is more common in parishes that do Latin Mass. It's much more "orthodox" (best word I can think of) than the regular Catholic Churches and still in union with the Pope. I didn't learn about these types of parishes until I was an adult. So glad I found them.

Thank you for your prayers for the Jewish people. It’s been a tough time with the anti semitism going on. There was a Jewish cemetery desecrated with anti Semitic graffiti this week in Maryland. I am very thankful that my state government has stood up and said that anti semitism will not be tolerated and that they stand with us especially after this latest anti Semitic attack.

Hey great video I have been starting to wear hair covering I like the puff idea it will keep all of my curls in place. Also if wear a lace front wig it will stay in place better. Oh and if wash your wig with shampoo and a few drops of fabric softener it will help it keep it shape for more years.
