Damn, y’all are really obsessing over her Caucasian features. Almost ignoring the black side of herself. She is beautiful, but that isn’t defined by what hair she has, how proportional her features are, or the color of her eyes. “I’m just a regular black girl, but you’re gorgeous!”. We’re all gorgeous. All black women alike. The colorism really needs to go.
@pingman4297
@pingman4297 5 жыл бұрын
It’s her Caucasian features in conjunction with her skin tone and negroid hair. They wouldn’t say the same for a dark skinned woman with straight hair - they’d just accuse her of perming.

Idk obsession or amazement? I’m sorry but I’ve never seen someone that light with her texture. It’s really amazing to see how fantastic African genes can be. I think it’s super cool, especially how she embraces it instead of relaxing it.

I think it’s the unique combination of features that is so interesting. And if she had more If the typical African facial features and straighter hair she would obviously still be just as gorgeous and unique because everyone is beautiful in their own way. This is just one genetic combination that is beautiful in its own way too. ❤️ humans are beautiful.

My sister is exactly like u she has really light skin blue eyes and type 4 hair this is not that different it’s just the way the society view “lightskin people” as all being mixed in all actuality black people can come all skin tones from darkest to lightest and all different hair types no matter the skin tone 🤓.

@JourneyGurrl
@JourneyGurrl 5 жыл бұрын
In the US most black people are "mixed" meaning more than one ethnicity. I think the anomaly for many on this topic is that she may be biracial - which stereotypically lends itself to a belief of a looser curl pattern. The only additional comment I can add is that the black gene is dominant. So this could be another explanation to consider regarding her 4 type hair texture. Which is gorgeous btw 💗
@JourneyGurrl
@JourneyGurrl 5 жыл бұрын
@Boots Or Shoes? That's so true. Many of we AA's who phenotypically look black believe themselves to be a true or pure example of blackness. And even use words like "mixed" to describe others. When in fact, their genotype (actual dna ethnicity) is more european than many light skinned people. I wish people knew this phenomenon. Maybe it would encourage them to pause for a moment before saying disparaging words.

Mastering the puff will give you many options! High puff, afro puffs, a sophisticated front puff to the side. Perhaps try a thick, opaque black knee high (with the foot cut out). Thin shoe laces, string and bands will cut your hair. First, apply liquid and cream to the perimeter then gently brush the perimeter with a soft boar bristle brush. Wrap the knee high around the front and tie in the back keeping your hair clear. Alternate between pushing up the knee high, gently tugging up the sides of your gathered hair and tightening the back knot (but not too tight)! Tie a knot then tuck the tails under. Perhaps wrap a scarf around the brushed perimeter for 10 minutes so you hair lays nicely. I've enjoyed watching you discover your hair and witnessing how beautifully you own it. Well done!

ngl, ive seen super pale ginger girls with type 4 hair before - kinda like merida i guess. apparently straight hair can be connected to a gene inherited from neanderthals. During a period of time before neanderthals died out when both species roamed the earth, in non-african areas around the world (east asia in particular i think) inter-species breeding between homo-sapiens and neanderthals must've taken place. i think the combinations we find in nature are so beautiful.

Yes she is beautiful ❤️ but for those of you saying she is beautiful just because of the fact that she has lighter skin and that her “skin doesn’t match the hair” are ignorant. She is beautiful altogether, not because she is considered different. because the same darkskin women with the same natural and healthy hair type don’t get as many compliments. All 4c hair is beautiful making that person beautiful. Skin color isn’t going to predict the rest of your features. Yes she is beautiful but don’t praise her just because she looks white with the hair of a black woman. Praise her because she is confident, healthy, and happy. Just because her skin is lighter doesn’t make her this amazing goddess because if she had dark skin that “matched” there would definitely not be as many compliments and same vice versa. Im trying to say that we should praise her for being able to cope with her hair and maintain it’s health just like every other 4c afro out there and not because she can pass as white.

Your hair is gorgeous :-)......a few easy hacks: Buy a box of knee highs and use those instead(sounds crazy i know lol) but they are really cheap and work soooo well. Spray water and leave in conditioner mixture while doing to soften. Also, try sectioning hair in two,front/back, and work to raise each to a high puff. Its easier to raise a smaller section of hair vs all hair at once.

I absolutely love your hair! I think you look amazing with it all natural! You remind me of my daughter. She is still trying to find herself as a biracial/ African American young lady. She has the opposite situation where she has a very wavy to straight hair but darker brown skin. She hides from the Sun and often states she wishes she was just White. I'm so confused as we attend so many African and African-American cultural events as well as have very affluent upwardly mobile African-American friends as well as Latino and Asian. She has no African-American friends or Ethnic friends only white friends. I wish I could say that is just by circumstance but she purposely only has white friends. She's only sixteen so I hope she grows out of it... and accept all of who she is just like you do ❤

I’m mixed race, and I hated my skin tone as well. I grew out of it, but still have some insecurities. Experiencing colourism within the black community didn’t help with the healing, tbh. What helped me, was finding role models, with my similar complexion. Mariah Carey really helped my insecurities. Just knowing there is someone out there that looked like me and was mixed race, really helped tons. I hope your daughter finds peace within herself.

@@TemptressTeelia thanks so much for your advice. I would love to think that I'm a great role model for my daughter. I am a very hard worker, educated and very well cultured. My husband and I both have a very great spiritual Foundation and we have all friends of different ethnicities. My daughter looks very similar to me. I just don't get it. However thanks so much for sharing. I do hope she grows out of it. In regards to colorism oh, my children are very well versed in what that means including light skin privilege. I hope it's just a phase...

I'm half black/half white and I'll tell you, it can be hard especially with Hollywood's white washing. I look more white than I do black, and I've had people become disappointed when they find out I am mixed with black. Racism, or at least white preference, is very real and very heartbreaking. I am 30 now and I don't care at all what people think of my race. I'm sure your daughter will grow out of it as she matures. It really is something that comes with growing up.

Gabrielle i have had the same experience. So I totally understand! Being mixed isn’t as easy as people think it is. Yes we have light skin privilege, but the mental anguish we go through. I wouldn’t want that on anyone.

You're the first caucasian-looking biracial woman that I've ever seen that has a natural hair texture and color 100% like mine. I wouldn't have even been able to tell that you were mixed if your hair wasn't coarse like mine. Because some white people who are not mixed with anything even have natural curly hair that grows up sometimes but it's never really coarse looking like black people's natural hair. You would be able to pass off as white if it had not been for your hair! You look nice with it though. You're very pretty😊

Nice job. I like using nylons. So, I'd buy a pack of knee highs because i feel like it's better than cutting pantyhose. Works the same as the bands you have but less fuss in my opinion. Just be careful not to tie it to tight; you'll give yourself a headache. Can't wait to see your braids. 🤗

Use pantyhose leg to tie up your puff. It's cheaper & works great. You can cut to the exact size you need.

Hair style came out so pretty! I'm cheap lol. I find the cheapest knee high nylons for like .99 cents. I then cut off the part that sits at the knee. Use a bristle brush to push up the hair, loop the ends like I'm going to tie it in a knot after getting my hair in the position I want, then tuck the ends around the sides under the tightend part of the knee high. My hair is so thick, I don't need to tie it in a knot.
