I bought a knockoff of a Chanel brooch for $20 to compare materials etc. The real one cost $800 and is made of the exact same materials - brass, synthetic pearls, glass. The other is a $40 knockoff of a *esluxy* backpack - also for comparison - I can't find any difference and still use it at the gym

Great ideas and your presentations are always informative. If you are in New York please visit the exhibit of the Harlem Renaissance it is closing 7/28 but it is worth a day off of work to see. Hi Kura, I am not surprised by the Dior/Armani scandal - I have been reading about such issues since last year in the Atlantic or New Yorker - the volume of luxury products now available (especially on re-sale markets) makes it very plausible - my Mom has bought luxury bags for the past 40 years, therefore I can see the difference in quality in her closet (some I have already inherited) compared to the same item today (eg. the speedy) - I am gen X in my 50s - I was always taught to buy quality over name recognition or someone dictating the “it bag” that I should have, that is the principle I still utilize when shopping ❤

Hi ! Was there a time when LV Mono Vernis Perle Read PM Monogram.does not have a date code? My aunt and I were trying to authenticate an old Vernis white bag. The bag size, the monogram design is on point. even the stitches ,the color of the thread, the color of the inner lining. the lock,the hardware,the stamp,the zipper even the LV near the handle does not overlap.The only thing we noticed is that there was no date code. Accdg to my aunt that bag was given t her by her aunt in 2009 .But that *esluxy* was gifted to her aunt in 1998. There is only a slight discoloration but it looks fantastic.

I just bought that Quince bangle in the gold - I have an old Monet one in silver from my mom that I just dug out too. Also in that same order I bought their Polene dupe bag - love Quince. I'm glad I bought the bag from Quince - it's real leather and while I am really happy with it, I think I would have been disappointed with spending more on the Polene bag with such a small opening.

About Dior: I’m done with companies that are greedy and exploit people and resources. I’m going to look up B Corp companies and buy from them. Gonna vote with my dollar.
