Swoop is being teased about what she doesn’t know and yet her hair is healthy and hip length. Swoop has been taking care of her hair well without spending money on tons off of products. I think I’m more likely to follow her routine.

I had my hair about the same length as hers (just a little shorter) and before I went to middle school I got it cut in layers. And let me tell you, THAT WAS ONE OF THE BIGGEST REGRETS I HAVE. I couldn’t braid my hair, I couldn’t put it in a bun, and it looks really weird now that it grew back. Even if it took a long time for me to brush it and handle it, I still miss being able to make a long braid, a long ponytail, and just basically having long hair. :(

kind of weird that swoop is supposedly doing things wrong because tbh, braids after washing + leave-in conditioner sounds perfectly fine and clearly works for her. I do that w/my long hair as well (although mine isn't curly). "so you think braids stop frizz?" uhh.... it kind of does lol, that's why it's a protective hairstyle for all hair types... once you get past a certain length, styling products are probably unnecessary and inconvenient. anyway her hair is so long and beautiful and i don't know why people are saying the ends look "damaged" lol. if it's not broken don't fix it hah

This was a new experience for them both, they both learned a thing or two. But as a person who used to have that hair length, then proceeded to cut it multiple times and now is growing it out.. I don't think the length has anything to do with the "shade" she was throwing at swoop. It was mostly the lack of knowledge and the things she was doing obliviously wrong. I don't think her length has anything to do with what she knows or doesn't know. All types of hair have their own struggle, sure. But why is it wrong of one girl to be taken aback by the obliviousness of another?

Swoop is my hair twin. I’ve never met anyone with my hair type! When I was younger my hair was down to my knees and the only way to dry it was with the magical 4 braids. As years went by I learned how to use styling products and brushed my hair upside down (after detangling) to get volume. I knew it was time for a haircut when I would flip my head and my hair would hit the floor. The first chop is always the hardest but I don’t regret it one bit. I don’t miss spending hours doing my hair and my curls are 10 times more beautiful and bouncy now. My hair is still considered long and every time I have to brush my hair I want to just chop it off again lol. As a curly haired person that gets the “Don’t cut it it’s beautiful.” statement thrown at them on the regular, I would just like Swoop to know that YOU control your hair and your hair doesn’t control you. Why spend 3 to 4 hours dealing with your hair when you can be spending that time doing something fun and exciting? Why sleep in uncomfortable braids that soak your pillow and sheets when you can bask in the glory of head wraps for mid length hair? If you love your hair then embrace it and keep it the way it is but girl I see the stress on your face lol I know you want to sleep with clean hair and a dry pillow. Much love!

Hey, at least her hair did not break and grew that long. So she doesn't have done all wrong. Her length is great, but I would cut 10cm to get rid of the thin ends and give it a full and healthy look. It will not destroy the long over all look. But I really like the braid out flat look on her. Not everyone needs volume 😁. A Denman brush maybe does a better job. I can not stand the sound a tangle teaser makes 🙈🙉

Swoop, lovely, your hair is gorgeous. Also, being from a community where we don't cut our hair w/o covering it, seeing a curly girl talking about dealing with long hair and knowing that I'm not the only one trying to figure this out means a lot. I'd love to see more! Also--if you want to detangle in the shower/with water, you'll want a bucket, and just turn the water off. Alternatively, the larger side of the kitchen sink works, too.

I think cutting your hair depends on what you want. Like if you want more ringlets or volume. I don’t even know if I’d want to cut it, lol. I’m jealous of your length!

Hold the bottom of the section up/at the scalp, creating a big U. Then diffuse (at the bottom of the U). Hope that makes sense lol.

I just wanted to thank-you for this video. My hair is almost as long and I have always had troubles learning how to care for my curls at this length. It just isn't the same as watching someone with medium length hair, trying to copy what they do when all my hair doesn't fit on a diffuser. I would however love to learn how to add a bit of volume near the top of my hair without too much heat. Have a great day!!!

When my hair was very long, it used to get caught under my arm pits, that was one of the main issues. And when I smoked (no judgement please) I burnt it many times with the lighter! ....volume one out for me in the end over length, I cut mine. But when I see long curls i do get a bit 'nostalgic'...Your hair is beautiful, maybe a few longer layers for a bit more volume. It wont look shorter

For me, a girl with long and thick curly hair, I felt such sympathy pain for swoop when they took out her still wet braids and re-soaked it 😭 like if I had just the day before washed my hair and braided it, only to have to take it out and re-do it! I cry when it rains the day after a wash and go.😂

SWOOP Squad here. Question: Would SWOOP have a curl pattern closer to natural if she did more braids? Double it maybe so the curl pattern is tighter? SWOOP dear, this is your hair & you should have it whatever length you want with whatever curl pattern you want. If the length is causing difficulty cut a few inches off first. I would SERIOUSLY recommend YOU DON'T CHOP IT ALL OFF AT ONCE! You may think you're ready but you're probably not because it's been with you so long & it took so long to get to that length. I did that in 2002 (hair down to the butt cut to hair at the shoulders) and it was EXTREMELY TRAUMATIC causing a panic attack & serious depression! My circumstances were different but I really think going in stages would be a better plan for your mental & emotional well-being.

her hair would never look natural even if she had multiple braids I should know I've had my hair in braids for sooo long and my hair never looks like it does when it's natural if you braid your hair right after the shower when it's soaking wet that damages your hair it shouldn't be super wet but just a little damp

Thank you for this video about caring for long curly hair! I would love to see one on hairstyles for curly girls with mid- or long-length locks. I have a mix of types 2C and 3A hair, and at its longest, it's mid-back length (but I have angles in the front and layering throughout). My biggest issue is the lack of variety of hairstyles. Your pineapple style is so cute, but won't work for my length; I usually just end up wearing it down or up in a high pony--I would appreciate suggestions for hairstyles that work especially well for long curls!

I have long curly hair, and i read somewhere that if your ends dry faster than your roots then they frizz, so i use a microfiber towel to scrunch the ends dryish and i only diffuse the roots by sticking the diffuser right against my scalp and i move it a bit and give myself a scalp massage in the process

This video hit so close to home! I have super long wavy hair and experience much the same! I detangle in the shower, but much like Swoop, I start at the top, then stop when I get to a snag and gently work it out. Detangling from the bottom is so much harder. And yeah, diffusing is a nightmare. I have an orchid diffuser and while I am able to get small sections in the bowl to hold up against my head, it's a pain, takes forever, and still gives me frizz. I have better luck with fully air-drying which takes hours and hours because my hair is also crazy thick. A microfiber turban helps with the drying some, but I had difficulty finding one that was long enough to get my hair all in it - I have to fold it up before wrapping it in the turban. And seriously, think about a long hair pineapple - that's fun to figure out...
