Stylish trousers suit? Petite, size 12, age 59

I popped into my local Sainsbury's and found this lovely blue trousers suit as well as some other items.

Hi Rhi thanks for the clothing try on from Tu. The blue trouser suit looked really good on you. It was stylish, modern and a great colour. I think the jacket length was fine but would look good shorter too. Your hair colour looks very nice. Ignore clothing sizes😂 They are generally a load of nonsense. Enjoy your ice cream 😊

My favourite was the final white t-shirt. Your hair colour looks lovely to me but if you are unhappy with it, you can change it back next time. I’m sure it will lighten a bit each time you wash it. Thanks for sharing all the clothes. Sometimes things just do not work out, I’ve found.

Being 5ft 1, I’ve come to the conclusion wide leg trousers swamp us more petite ladies. I also tried the navy orange dress on last week and felt the same as you about it. It’s about time Tu started doing their petite range again, as it has mostly been phased out. Such a shame.

Your hair is lovely . I agree with you about the clothes i wouldnt keep any of the items i have seen you in much better fitting clothes . I have the top you had in wrong size , i am at 10 but had to buy a 14 which fits it comes up very small . I love your channel and look forward to your hauls . Xx

oh dear Rhi. Not a great week. Wrong hair colour and wrong size or shape clothes. All the clothes looked great on the hangers. Tu clothes are usually very good. I love my wide leg trousers with the stripe down the side. You have the light colour, I went with navy. Too long but worth the effort of shortening. I know what you mean about looking in the mirror and not seeing your usual hair colour. I was always dark, over the years went blond to cover the grey. Now natural colour of mostly silver grey, which everyone tells me is a great colour but cant get used to it being me in the mirror. I always thought I would colour it but it’s so expensive I’ve given up. X❤

I had actually given up colouring mine for the last few years and quite liked the colour. Then I decided I'd have a few highlights and now I'm back on the treadmill of having it done every few months & it is pricey! I might need to think again. Those wide leg with the stripe are one of my favourites! Glad you got a navy pair. They are so easy to wear x

Hi Rhi, I thought the little white t shirt looked lovely on you. I thought the white trousers suited you, but I think you would need a lighter weight top. Shame the little co-ord set was the wrong size because I think that would have looked lovely together for your holiday. Bermuda shorts definitely no!!! I don’t think they really flatter anyone. If you really don’t feel right with your hair you could ask your hairdresser to put a few more blonde highlights in although it does look really nice and will blonde up in the sun ❤

Hi Rhian; i think keeping patterns smaller and darker on pants tops and dresses may work better for you. And maybe more cooler tone in your hair might work better for you. The dress you wore in video with small flowers looks lovely on you: love your videos❤

Hi Rhian. Tbh the two blues together looks more like a business suit. Maybe it would look better with jeans or a denim skirt to break up the colour a bit. The cream/ black trousers needs. Black tunic type top but not cream. Too much cream The top would look nice with the trousers if you decided to keep them. Am not keen on any of the dresses as it’s too much of a pattern . Not being funny but you look like you are ready to pick cockles on the Llandudno coast with the shorts on Not a very successful haul, but that’s the trouble with supermarket shopping All the best. Morning Rhi, Thank you for you vlog, I think you look lovely in the blue trouser suit and like you in the white tee shirt, the only thing I would say, is - I had one last year with the same ‘frill’ for sleeves, it looked good until I needed a cardigan and then the look just fell apart 🤣, it just didn’t sit nice. Could I ask where you got the top/dress you are wearing from, the colours look great on you. Your hair does look nice but I do understand how you feel, like you say you can change it back next time you go. 😊😊😊

That's dress I'm wearing is from Seasalt. It's a lovely dress & very easy to wear. I didn't think about the cardy aspect of wearing that top & I do love a cardy! X

That colour blue is so lovely on you but i think the jacket is way too long for a short lady, me included . The blue trousers will look very nice when taken up and washed i think, so hopefully the pocket that sticks out will be gone.

Hello Rhi,,the blue color is fabulous on you, From experience I now look inside the clothes to check the size. I am only 5ft.0inches. So the full leg trousers are not for me.I did love the 2 pc.black and tan set to bad the top was on the wrong hanger..😊

Hi Rhian, please keep the trouser suit…the colour really suited you and you looked amazing. I didn’t think the jacket looked too long tbh and I think once the trousers are shortened you will feel better about the whole effect……definitely wear with white trainers and a white top👍. I have to be honest, I wasn’t keen on any of the other items in the haul, the colours and styles did nothing for you. As for your hair…..it looks so nice and actually doesn’t look a lot different on screen 👍

I really like the blue trousers on you and I think the cream wide trousers would be lovely for a holiday or even a hot day here (if we ever get one). I think 22:19 the blue jacket was a tad too long as you felt yourself it was. I am only 5ft myself and it is so difficult to get clothes to fit nicely. The rest I would take back. Clothing sizes are all over the place, sometimes I have to go to a 14 especially on the bottom half. ❤

@@RhianWarlow I was thinking about the blue jacket and wondered if it would work if worn with narrower leg trousers or jeans. When you are small clothes can overwhelm you. I have to try on so many clothes, particularly trousers before I can get a flattering fit. I thought the blue trousers looked really lovely on you with the shorter more fitted top. Make the most of being dainty, I spent most of my life (70 now) wishing I was tall and willowy 😔.♥️

Re the hair: just live with it for the next couple of weeks. It will lighten. Sorry but this was a disappointing haul. I think you felt that also, so well done for showing us the clothes. The blue jacket was too long for you. Lots of them are styled as ‘boyfriend’ style, and they are too long a look for me and I am 5ft 6”. You are the same as me - often between sizes in trousers. Remember that when buying them from Sainsbury’s. I did actually like the multi dark crops, but you needed the petite option to get the correct look. I have found M&S are bad at having tags on the hangers with the wrong size clothes. Why don’t they check them before putting on the rail. I don’t think anyone will feel the pale pink dress is a good fit. Too wide under the arms - bigger than it should be for the size. I have sometimes found this with some tops, and if I liked the top otherwise, I have undone about 3” of the side seam and taken it in, often more at the front than the back. Many people would not be prepared to do that, and shouldn’t have to as it has been cut incorrectly. Rhi, you need to go to another another supermarket store or department store, and try the clothes on there. Find something that fits on you and that you like to restore your confidence. There will be something that suits, although you may have to pay a bit more. One thing that costs more and you feel good in is worth 2 or 3 other items that do not bring the same pleasure. Hope this helps.

@@hazels27 yes it definitely does help. Trying on a lot of clothes that don't fit well does knock your confidence. On a good day, I'm quite resilient but when I filmed this haul I didn't feel myself because of my hair. It's already started to lighten, which is good but spending a bit more to get a good fit is probably worth while. Thank you for your comment x
