Torb shotgun is hard to miss and does well over 116 dps, Torb doesnt have as much of a bullet(pellet?) drop as Hanzo (does suffer some damage drop) and has a larger projectile, and with overload shoots a lot faster as well. On avg I out damage my turret 4:1, and that's with good placing of the turret

Hi guys, this is me in the video. I've noticed a few negative comments here which is expected. Constructive criticism is what I need and it's why I sent the video in. If any of you have any questions regarding my rationale to do anything in this clip. Feel free to ask and I will let you know the best I can remember. Hopefully you can help me. I want to have it noted that this is not my best game, nor my worst. I was in Masters before the role split. I mained D.va at the time. Season 7-9. I'm not an amazing player but I want to get better so any help you guys can give me would be great. Thanks for watching and thanks for your feedback.

I think the main difference could be that D.Va is generally a more reactionary hero. She is not supposed to take charge, as much as look out for ways to support the main tank or peel for squishies etc - which is generally reactionary. Typically, with dps heroes, you have to play a lot more proactively, which I think is what Sty wanted to highlight. It's all about trying to get max value all the time and increasing your effectiveness while minimizing your exposure to potential threats and unknown variables. Basically, you want to take control of every fight as much as you can. For Torb specifically, sure he has his overload, but apart from that he is pretty easy to dive and not very mobile - so I think the general concept of soft and hard flanks is important to judge. Generally Torb does not get much value from hard flanks because he spends a lot of time away from the fight, and he has few means of escape if things dont go according to plan. So I would advice to only stick with soft flanks, aka no worse than you always have the option of retreating to your team if you find yourself in a tough spot. I will however highly recommend using soft flanks as much as possible. Keep the turret around your team backline to help keep away enemy flank heroes and help your healers, while you yourself go on quick soft flanks to open up the angle of attack and split the enemy team's attention. If soft flanks are not available, then I would generally focus on shield break potential, which is really high with Torb, and in most fights shield break in itself can often be enough to win engagements consistently, or at the very least gain a lot of ground. In general, with all dps heroes, you always have to think about where the enemy is likely to position themselves in the near future - as well as your own team, and then look for every advantage you can possibly get before the enemy reaches you. You did that more with Doomfist, which might come from his more agile playstyle that makes it more obvious to play proactively and use mobility a lot - but every dps will benefit from foresight and pre planning. In general, just sitting on an objective is often the worst thing one can do as dps, no matter if you are attacking or defending. You always want to make the enemy fight for every inch of the map and not get anything for free - which is the main role of dps and main tanks. In terms of ultimate use, it is one of the most creative ultimates in the game and allows for a lot of potential. On a map like King's Row, there can be a point where the enemy frontline might have pushed up a bit. Here' you could use the ult to separate the enemy front and backline, making it much easier for your team to push hard with little risk. The ult itself doesn't have to kill anyone, it can force eliminations simply by removing positions on the map that the enemy can't use. I would also be more hesitant with blowing the entire load swiftly. Stacked molten core does not deal extra damage, so you can spread it out, and even wait a bit and fire the remaining up in the air, so that it lands when the first shots start to disappear. This can often catch the enemy off guard because it majorly extends the active time of molten core. All you need to do is to be sure you aren't gonna die while using it. (Oh and always use overload before molten core if available). For the turret in general, if you have to repair it often in fights instead of actually participating in the action yourself, then the problem is not that you repair the turret, but rather that it needs repairing in the first place. Generally I would advice you to place the turret in backlines, or at the very least in places where it is not in immediate sight of the enemy. A turret is best placed, if the enemy has to redirect their attention away from your frontline in order to deal with it. Against teams with high mobility flankers (genji, tracer, doomfist, etc), always value a turret location that can defend your healers - as these will be main targets for the enemy and your turret is the most reliable way of providing some cover for your ally support players. As a Genji or Tracer, there is nothing worse than seeing a lone Zenyatta that you can't easily dive because you know a turret will be blasting you with 56 dps as long as you engage the enemy (excluding the Zenyatta's potential to deal damage too). That gives the enemy a very small window of operation where they have to play perfectly or they die, and in a world where most players make mistakes rather consistently, this is a great way to capitalize on enemy disadvantages. I'm not a Torb main so I can't give any specific ability advice above what I believe you already know. You might even know all the stuff I just wrote, but the point is to just do it as frequently as you can, allways be mindful of your actions, your plans, and the state of the match.

What I was hoping to do as Torb on attack was to disrupt the enemy team as much as possible and keep steady pressure, it was said that I was repairing my turret for no reason which I disagree with slightly. When I was repairing my turret my rationalle in doing so was if the DPS/Tanks are trying to focus my turret I can heal it up and passively do damage and they are not focussing the DPS, tanks or healers which are more important. If there are 1 or 2 players spending time on trying to killl my turret then the advantage is to our team, if 2 are focussing turret and I am out of the game repairing, it's 5 vs 4.(+turret).

@@TwoInThePink-x That is a good mindset to have, every action that takes enemy attention without leaving your own team in harms way is good. I believe the way forward is to finda balance. In quite a few of the scenarios in your match a lot of the turret damage came from pure spam that was not directed solely at the turret, so it being there in itself didn't always have a direct impact on enemy attention - especially when it is completely in line with the enemy's firing line at your team's frontline. It is good to have the turret right behind your tanks to provide that extra firepower when you are pushing hard, but in general it's always optimal to have the turret in a location where it can't easily be bursted down, and you can just leave it to do its own thing without having to check up on it. In the end, you always want to have both your own damage and the turret damage active simultaneously as often as possible. It's all a matter of judging every situation in isolation and see where the turret can provide most value. Sometimes you don't need its constant firepower, but rather just its presence to lock down certain areas where the enemy team can't easily approach. The threat alone can sometimes be as valuable as the damage, sometimes even more. I wish you good luck on your journey :)

4:20 Sty just a heads up using secondary fire is almost completely useless. It does good damage only if you hit every pelet with the person right next to you and if they don't have any armour. there are a few things i get that the torb does. at point 1 when sty ask why hes backing off, torb had just lost a teammate, his molten was wearing off and his rein was backing off as well. while escorting to point 2, he went to the payload so anna could get off the payload and move forward to heal the team. small things that make sense to me but i suppose are bad at high levels

Stylosa's use of the word "throwing" is that you are simply failing to provide value for you're team. In comp, there aren't excuses for certain behaviors or actions, regardless if you tried hard or not, and ignorance of how to play is certainly not an excuse. Dropping you're shield when the enemy activates a dead eye, spawn camping the enemy and not helping the team or not healing as a support are examples where I hold the player responsible for team loss over my own mistakes, and would probably report them, regardless if they tried hard or not.

Torb rules to get to masters. 1.Most hit head shots with primary fire... I know this sounds hard but it's the only way a hero like Torb can get there. 2.Turret placement ...just like Baptize immortality field you have to hide it around coners so hit scan heroes can hit it. I use to be a Torb main for years but the potential lvl with him Is just to low once you hit masters because your turret is pretty much useless there.

He hits record and talks......it is not that hard, or take much time. There is not much to editing either. But making some fast cuts is easy and fast. He has all the name plates set to go for the video, just has to place them. No special effect either to add, it is again him just hitting record and talking, watching a video. This is not like say an "Angry Review" that takes 100's of hours to make, with help from ppl on the side. This is all I am trying to saying. I do not mean any disrespect, or putting down Sty in any way what so ever. I "LOVE" his vids, and was just stating what I was wishing for b/c I do love these video a lot. Ok, interesting watch, but the part about not waiting on the payload bugs me. Torb was the only one on the point, someone has to move it. The rest of the team was so far ahead that not even Ana could stand by the payload and heal the team. He had a turret by Ana that would help if someone flanked her. None of the rest of the team could provide any value back on the payload but SOMEONE has to or the push forward is for nothing. At least Torb did something to keep a little bit of firepower further ahead of himself while he was so far back doing the job no one else could or rather should.

To any torb players reading this. The only time you should heal the turret is in between fights if it survives, or switch to hammer and hit the enemy with it or heal the turret while the gun reloads. Dont underestimate the damage of your hammer in a close range engagement, it is a decent weapon to use at close range while you reload BUT ONLY AS YOU RELOAD. Not sure but I think you can hit enemies and heal the turret if someone is close enough so keep that in mind if a genji is on top of you

Hey there team, I'm looking for some advice. I've been playing OW for 4 months now, tank main. I'm in low-mid silver but hoping to climb out next season! I'm curious if I should continue trying to broaden my horizons with tanks, or stick to one hero and get better and better with them. So far I'm decent (for a silver player) at Rein, Zarya, Roadhog, and Sigma. Wondering if I should attempt to learn DVA and/or other dive tanks or just stick to Rein. Thanks for your time x

Feels like a lot of low-rank torb players misunderstand what the point of the turret is. It's not for front-line DPS, it just doesn't do enough damage for that and it dies quickly if it's in the open. The turret is for establishing control of a space and shutting down flankers. It's a lot harder for characters like Sombra, Tracer, Genji or Reaper to get anything done if they're taking constant damage while doing it... and the "plonk plonk plonk" of the turret acting as an alarm bell for anyone on the back line. It makes it so where if you're DMing a flanker like that McCree that you have a boundary that the enemy can't walk past without taking damage, and torb being effective at basically every range lets him really take advantage of that. All things you give up by putting the turret on the front. Also it's much more time efficient to just destroy your turret and rebuild it somewhere else. That hammer might as well be reserved for a backup weapon when you need to reload (and blizz should buff it's damage. Come on, guys, what could it hurt? /s).

Quinten Vanhoutte play the game then record the replay when your not acctually playing the game so it doesn’t lag you

I am back on overwatch from a year not playing and I was diamond rank I did my placement matchs ended up in gold and I can definitely understand why people are stuck in low ranks it is the same shit as when I quit a year ago people rush for kills don't communicate don't play the roles as intended just overall a shit show to play 3 games in a row had leavers it's next to impossible to rank shame really because I am having fun playing but I can't seem to get any luck in low rank games just seems like idiots only..

Torbs turret is great for baiting people repairing it is very important, dont compare his turret to his gun they play a diffrent role, maybe you should play torb so you can learn this.
