Man has been using technology since the dawn of time. Computers are culimonation of many different scientific fields and hundreds of years of advancement. So to complain that we have too much technology is just, well, not very specific or interesting and comes from the mind of a layman with no appreciation for scientific thought. The actual problem is we have too many humans.

@@danieldonoso5371 amigo entendistes mal.

To help people that are reading, this song ( whole album, actually) tells a story! To sum it up, Mr. Roboto is about a famous rock musician named Kilroy who get thrown into prison because in the future America is a dystopia run by fascist tyrants, who outlaw and ban music. This was bad news for Kilroy, because this meant he was to be thrown into prison. Honestly I'm sure there is more to this story but thats the overgeneralised plot. The prison is completely run by, well, robots. Kilroy, (Little fun fact about the album, the title is called "Kilroy Was Here" which in this case has two meanings. One meaning is the reference to one of the first ever "memes" It was used back in the 1940's by soldiers of WWII. The other meaning is of course, referring to our protagonist of this rock opera, Kilroy.) Kilroy knocks out a robot guard when it enters his prison cell, and disguises himself inside the robot. (Hence "Somewhere to hide") Then he manages to escape prison in the suit. Thats why he keeps saying "Thank you" over and over. Thats the story of Mr. Roboto. Its not the whole Kilroy Was Here album, but its a piece of it.

It doesn't end for me, I started singing the lyrics to "Cold War" right on cue. As controversial as the album and the tour were, Dennis DeYoung wrote a futuristic if not timeless story and in doing so broke up the band lol so clearly it's art. If they're not in "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame" then I dispute there is such a thing.

I always thought it was their best song. It has that new wave sound of the 80s, it is catchy and the lyrics were prophetic with its warnings about the dangers of technology and how it can dehumanize people which is what is literally happening now. I think what broke up the band was DYoung's insistence on having a Rock Opera concert tour and the other band members thought it was dumb.

Heck yea it is! I remember this one as a kid. I was a science fiction geek and still am, but realize it's not fiction like Elon Musk recently stated. Where did all this knowledge come from that created the 21st century future arriving? We didn't actually realistically expect to see high tech AI driven robots in the real world like we're beginning to see. The first driverless robo taxi without operator controls is set to be announced on August 8th this year. Elon Musk is the super star CEO of all time, but not sure if gonna save America and keep the world a human one that represents the will of the people for it's a global corporation that oversees all the companies, universities, countries, and everyone who was blessed to have great jobs. For the rest of us who speak truth instead of going along with whatever plan, there's not this greatest country we thought was our country for it's the global corporation of WEF.

I remember being in high school when this came out, we had this song nailed down at lunch! Using the lunch tables as drums, we were lucky enough to have some real vocal talent, spurring on some damn near magical moments with about 30-50 people eventually joining in daily, it got VERY LOUD, until teachers put a stop to it, from being so disruptive to the classes not on break yet :D I really hope someone, somewhere has a recording of it somewhere. We did the same with some Queen songs, and a few others, but nothing quite as perfect as Mr. Roboto since far more people joined in with stomping out the bass and drums, along with the super easy lyrics. I'm sure it sounded better to us kids, than it would to any critic, but it was still magic.

I've known this song for years and kinda liked it but recently it's grown on me to the point of bordering obsession. It hits me differently. I think it's brilliant the way that it combines the elements of rock, sci-fi, and story telling that is on par with folk. Future folk? No - that's been used. This song was way ahead of its time. I think with sci-fi and 80's nostalgia so big right now a reboot of the video would be well received and open it up to a new audience. I could see it as anime or maybe CGI. Very cool.
