Damn, Tommy sounds great here. As usual. This wasn't a hit single, but it's the quintessential Styx song of the 70s era.

I went to see Styx in huntsville alabama with my son. I have been to many big name concerts, but Styx was the best concert I have ever been to hands down. They were phenomenal. Anyone that claims Styx is any less without D Deyoung hasnt seen them live. They are much better off without Deyoung. My son said he was awestruck. If you get a chance, go see them.

Bill Nelson - I've seen them with both Dennis & Lawrence Gowan, and I prefer Lawrence. Sure DDY once HAD the vocal chops. But Gowan has such showmanship and he really knows how to entertain a crowd. He's also a master on the keyboards. When I saw him jump from those keyboards, I loved it...🎶🎵🎤🎹

DDY doesn't have the stage presence at age 71 but....Gowen doesn't have the vocals for the DDY songs either. Also, while watching the live "Crystal Ball", even though I am not a musician, even I could notice so many keys that Gowen did NOT hit on the keyboard in the middle section of the song. Gowen tries to get ALL the sounds out of 1 keyboard whereas DDY had multiple keyboards and I much prefer it that way for a more precise sound to the studio version. P.S. Gowen is also a major show off.

Thing is, age has nothing to do with it. Dennis was never much of an entertainer. Watch Styx's older footage, you'll see DDY hiding behind the keyboards, even during the early 70's concert. As for Playing the keyboards, and stage presence, it's called showmanship, that's what Lawrence Gowan has, that Dennis doesn't. And he is just as good as Dennis, probably better at playing keyboards. So what he's not vocally the same as DDY. I don't expect him to be just like Dennis, nor do I want him to. And listening to Dennis's show from 2014, his vocals are not what they once were either. Since he only does around 45 shows a year, and doesn't even play keyboards during half the shows, DDY needs to retire.

Bill Nelson ~ I just watched Dennis's band performing this. The guitar parts aren't too bad, but the vocals are terrible (yes, DDY's too), with no energy at all. The overall sound and production of Dennis's version is substandard. High school bands sound better then his band.

I know all about how Dennis performs and yes, he needs a kick in the ass (if we can travel back in time) to have more of a stage presence...but....when bands replace main singers, they typically try to get someone who's vocal range and sound are similar to what the fans were accustomed to; Journey, Kansas, et al. Personally I think Styx 'settled' on Gowen when they should have done auditions or checked youtube like Journey did.

Why in the ever lovin' fuck is JY doing that last verse of this song and changing the lyrics? That was Dennis's verse and since Gowen replaced Dennis, shouldn't HE be the one saying that last part (as it was originally recorded on the LP)??? Why James? Why the lyric changes? It's not even really sung, it's more spoken. Sorry, but they ruined this one. Superstars yes, yes, superstars Step right this way. Everyone's welcome, We want your dreams. The offer's simple, momentary immortality Cause I've seen them all you know I've seen them climb and I've seen them fall I've seen them come and I've seen them go And through it all there's only one thing that matters Love And that's simply You and I Yes, yes, You and I For we, we are superstars
