Same here. Even with the videos I am screwed! Especially bouncing between aircraft. I have yet to land the Frogfoot without crashing. Why? Because I didn't know about the parachute and I always overran the runway. The brakes suck. Something so simple yet so critical. On to the next crisis...

I build custom UAV systems for a living and I find it SO cool that I can install tiny components in my UAV's that serve the same purposes as many of the components in a fighter jet... when using a lidar for altitude many flight controller firmwares can even correct for the angle of the sensor so you dont get a false reading in the turns

I have a gripe with the suggestion to pitch up to gain altitude when you were coming in low. If you do that, you are also bleeding air speed. I believe it's best to teach that, in stable flight, POWER controls altitude and TRIM sets your airspeed. Understanding that concept makes approaches much more stable and easy to control. It also helps to understand that concept in normal flight when targeting cruise altitude and speed.

Whenever I land this plane, I always bust the landing gear even though my speed was below 300kph, had proper descent rate, and had properly angled AoA.

I actually rarely need to use the chute... then again, I occasionally crash short of the runway, so it may have to do with my landing speed. I assume you used some form of autopilot to keep it so perfectly on 300 km/h? I should really learn those.

for landing this plane , you have to use full flaps Lshift+F , so that's why in this video you have a hard and uncomfortable landing . ☺️

Full flaps shoul'd be used for T/O The tires are not made for such high speed. You shoul'd not go over 350 kph on ground. Normal T/O speed is 200-220kph. The wheel brake shoul'd be released around 70% of thrust. No later than 80%. All I just wan to say is RTFM.

Seems that landing gear has been lowered too early above 350km/h so the plane is shaking. I suggest all to retract gear before 350km/h and rise flaps before 400km/h. Use Landing flaps for take off when bird is turbo heavy. During landing slow down to 400km/h to lower flaps to pos 1 (combat) then slow down to 350km/h to lower gear and set landing flaps. It seems to be more graceful and smooth after DCS 2.5

My first landing I was going 470 and didnt use the chute :P I dont know if it was the wheelie from the bump off the runway or I burnt out the tires from the braking all the way. I survived and tried to taxi back but had no steering. I was like wtf thats bs then thought about what I'd just done :P

Where is this guy getting English huds for his Russian planes? I've managed to find English cockpits for the Russian low fidelity stuff (the high fidelity comes with English special options) but the HUD is still in Russian which may as well be Clingon. I can't even begin to fathom what it's saying like I might be able to do with French or German. If anyone knows please tell me as I'd like to fly the Russian stuff more

@@grimreapers thanks mate but I meant the Hud as opposed to the cockpit itself. I've found it in gameplay settings under avionics. Now the HUD is in English and I can understand what I'm doing with the sensors. I've got a Russian friend and we talk about how mad her language is for us to try and decipher! Anyway, love the vids mate, I've used them to learn the basics first with the mighty SU-25T then with the SU-27/33, Mig 29 and Mi-24P and now I've been going through them for the F-18 which is the first NATO high fidelity model I'm learning (have the AV-8 in the background for future). Really good content. My favourite has got to be the MI-24 dogfighting WW2 planes 😂

Since Cap filmed this I now have a new PC and DCS World. Believe me this information is correct - as one of the freebie planes you get (yes, and I DO appreciate getting this one free) it's probably the first jet aircraft that most people use in DCS. Follow Mr. Wagner's otherwise excellent Training scenarios and you'll spend most of your first few flights burying the plane into the ground on landing (particularly if you have flown real planes) because the nose up/speed thing you learned does not seem to work! Oh, and I still find it hard to read the HUD at anything slightly less than perfect conditions (even with the "brightness" turned up) and there are annoying reflections in the pane of glass of that the HUD shines on. Just a vote of thanks to Cap, really for alleviating frustration upon landings. Best, Pete.

In landing with those modern aircrafts you don't set the approach speed because it is changing every minute. You set the approach AoA. In SU-25T it is about 10 units of AoA. You just trim the aircraft to keep stable 10 units of AoA and then by thrust you change the rate of descent. The 15 units of AoA is quite dangerous to use. It is near the stall speed. If there was any gust of wind to the tail, the aircraft woul'd be stalled very easily.
