On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you prefer more up close and personal dogfights consider the IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battle series and experience intense WWII aerial combat over famous battlefields such as Stalingrad, Moscow, Rhineland and Normandy. Fight in and against Russian, American, German, British warbirds such as the P-51 Mustang, P-47 Thunderbolt, Bf-109, FW-190, Spitfire, Hurricane and rugged IL-2 Sturmovik attack plane. You can also fly legendary SPADS, Fokkers and Camels in WWI dogfights over the trenches of WWI and discover your inner Red Baron! And all of this can be experienced in jaw dropping virtual reality!

The gripen is very user friendly.. The colors on the displays in gripen is a result of a investigation back in the days, where several test pilots got to try different colors combinations on the screens.. Its a bit funny that those soft colors was finally selected, but they were considered to be the easiest to read so thats why ☀️ very different from american fighters 🙃

Used to sit on our porch back in the late 70's as a kid and watch Swedish JA37 Viggens and J35 Drakens do dogfight training up above almost every week, no missiles or guns fired naturally but it was a real spectacle, very diffrent from this video but then agan it was usually a 2-ship vs 2-ship kind of a deal.

Grew up right next to Nellis AFB & my grandma used to live near Creech AFB. I’ll just say I’ve seen the F22 do dogfight training well before it became “public” lol. I’ve seen every kind of military aircraft fly right over my house. When president Trump used to come visit his Trump casinos you’d see a Pave-low being escorted by multiple AH-64 apaches and F35s trailing behind them…. Pure badassery

I'm just astonished by how modern aircraft can move through the sky whilst stalling out and also just of what modern missiles can do. How stressful must it be if you are in a dogfight, your bandit's missile misses you and then a few moments later, that same missile that has missed just slaps you out of the sky?! Just the thought of knowing that a missile that has missed might come back for you is a scary thought indeed.

One thing this episode taught me is Gripen looks AWESOME in the Swedish camo (like Vigen). Actually, MUCH COOLER, in the Swedish camo like Vigen. I also used to like Draken's ominous-looking dark gray. I wonder if you can paint Gripen in the dark gray the next time you fly the thing. PLEASE!!!

here in Brazil it took more than 10 years of internal political fights to decide which fighter to replace our scrapped F-5 and we will finally receive the Gripen in our air force but it will still take a good 2 to 3 years for the institution to integrate the new equipment into the fleet.

He’s said before that it depends on whether the other pilot is or isn’t practiced in the plane. If both he and his opponent are skilled in both planes being flown, then they swap, if not, no swap

Question... if the Flanker has a rear-facing radar, why can't it also have a rear-facing sneaky fox 2? Couldn't you then do a two-circle merge and fire it backward?

Newtons law, whats in motion stays in motion. The missile would fly backwards at first which cant work because of aerodynamics. Then the missile would have too over come the speed of the forward flying plane which will left it in a low engery state in which it cant fly very well.

@@Mike_Romeo oh good point on the energy state, I forgot about that. But I don't get what you mean by the "missile can't fly back because of aerodynamics" seems like the low energy is the main problem, but that could be mitigated if you are already in a rate fight and the bandit is close behind

Theoretically it would work. As newtons first law states, the missile would be released with energy. So it wouldn't really need to "fire backwards". The enemy will catch up with the missile once it starts loosing speed. So you could drop a thrustless missile that does a cobra kind of "hit the brake and he'll fly right into me" manouever :P Think caltrops in a car chase, but for fighters ^^

They would be very slow initially (and even have to fly backwards which would be hard to get working aerodynamically) considering you'd have to subtract the forward speed of the jet.
