I do wish you'd put the tongue and groove to the front and the magnet to the rear (and modify your previous planes too) because the cockpit cover will be less likely to come off. Remember how many times in your videos that the canopy was off when you landed? Reversing the hold down mechanism would fix that

That is really an awesome project. The only thing I’m going to add is two “cheat” air intakes, because the EDFs are so far back, I think they are starving for air. But it flies so well in your maiden video, I might try to leave everything as is

I always wonder why not place the servos and control rods on top of the wing to prevent damage at landings

@@hotlapkyle I don't think folks would reject a model thats whole philosophy is simplicity in building and flying. Nobody would be rejecting these models because push rods were located in a much more practical functional location.

Question and comment: Yes to reversing cockpit magnet, front to rear. Question: Should the EDF's be CW and CCW setup? Thanks in advance

Do you have both BEC's connected to the RX? Normally for a twin setup you disconnect the red wire on one of the BEC's

What’s strange is I always connect both ESC’s to a Y connection and just plug it into my receiver. Never had a problem. They both need power and signal to work. Never understood why you’d do it any different

Looks great, purchased files the other day. Where I fly in SW Florida we have a 600 ft asphalt runway. Is there any chance of adding an embedded landing gear like the Eclipson Cobra? About half the tires are embedded in the wing/belly of the plane. I haven't put the STL files in a slicer yet so I really don't know how practical this would be. This would make this really cool and super easy to get on and off the ground. You really crank out planes. I look at my printers as "employees"

Printing up now, looks good except the canopy fit is weird, like it's too narrow but needs tweaking of file IMO. You show the forward magnet on canopy and it looks somewhat recessed but on the canopy I printed it has what looks like more of a standoff the size and shape of magnet which will make it stick up in the front if I just glue a magnet to that circular raised pad.

It was cut with zero tolerance plane tool. Sometimes that happens when you cut horizontally. I’ll never be like eclipson unfortunately but it will fly wonderfully 👍🏻

Yes I built the mini Delta fighter and I increase the cockpit with an x by 3 mm. Y could you use the little tweaking also but if it's so much better than the one that's in the file. I originally thought that the file was corrupted but viewing the build video I can see that it is small. Took a measurement and nailed it on the first shot I'm sure you can do the same. Hope this is helpful

What I don’t understand is why you coupled the ailerons and elevators. When pitching up or down they work simultaneously, dragging both the wing and the horizontal stabilizer in the same direction. Wouldn’t a standard configuration be better (which requires two more servo’s of course)? Just wondering.
@hotlapkyle
@hotlapkyle 4 ай бұрын
You get more authority on pitch and roll doing it like this. Plus it saves the weight of servos, pushrods, horns and extension wires. Makes everything easier. Granted I never tested the plane with traditional aileron/ elevators, I don’t think the plane would have enough pitch authority just using the small elevators in the rear

Keeping the design super simple like this allows it to weigh 850g and land like a pillow

@@hotlapkyle In this case i doubt that tied ailerons and elevator is working correctly. ailerons are too close to cg to have enough long arm to improve pitch, actually its working like negative flaps. similar but inverted coupling was used in tied aerobatics model where with pitch up elevator flaps goes down to have sharper turn curve. And negative flaps to help pitch down or inverted flight. In theory and real planes negative flaps will raising stall speed during pitch up which could be dangerous, fortunately forward swept wings is more stall proof. Maybe current configuration is somehow positive to have more stable and foolproof flight envelope, but definitely its limiting maneuvering capability. I understand that with 2x40mm you need to simplify as possible, but maybe could be worth to test disable ailerons completly and let work only tailerons. there should be easy way improve authority to make tailerons as floating, hinged on back side of fuselage. There is much more capabilities . Dont take it like any criticism, i admire your work and impatiently waiting for more yours genius designs. But my aviation soul always looking to improve something 😀 I already bought your SU47, maybe i will try to make active canards coupled with elevators on my model, but it will probably require scale up. For me it will take some months to get there , i havent much spare time right now.

Good morning my friend I like your planes, which are easy to print and build and are reasonably priced (especially for jets), but frankly I find your explanations a little confusing. You sell your plans and your designs so it seems fair to me to expect a minimum of professionalism. I'm not necessarily asking for a "step by step" type video but at least a series of annotated photos taken during editing. So be careful, I don't want you to take my remark the wrong way; I think that your character has a lot to do with your way of proceeding. But please think of us, other poor beginners who are a little slower-minded LOL.... And really I tell you this with the greatest possible respect for your talent which is undeniable. Sorry for the translation but I am French and I use google trad

If you watch my other build videos, I believe I have 3 full build videos, you can build any of my jets. They are all very easy. Every part that can be possibly glued on the wrong side has an “L” printed on the bottom. They are really that simple to assemble. I haven’t received any emails or messages from people that couldn’t build my panes. This is the whole theory behind my builds. They don’t need instructions. I recommend watching my full build videos. This is why I price my models the way I do. If I wrote a manual with notations on the photos I’d be charging $50-$100 per model. I just don’t feel they need them. If you need any help, I’m the most responsive and accessible designer I’ve seen. Everyone on my Facebook group is also very helpful with questions
