Hey mate, love your whole set up and very tidy! Curious did your bacon set many fruit? Mine missed out altogether. Perhaps a unusual cool spring spoiled fruitset

Hi mate, thanks. My bacon hasnt set fruit yet, it hung on to one fruitlet this year and dropped it. Have you had fruit on yours before?

@@UrbanBounty , i successfully picked 2 bacon fruits last year and was expecting double figures this year but nothing...My reed of similar size to bacon tree had 9 fully developed fruit last season and this year looks to be 5 hanging on. I was impressed with the quality of bacon fruit

Beautiful lush greenery garden… your hard works really definitely pays off! It’s hard to tell on the Jujube because there are so many varieties out there these days, but Li generally has large oval shape fruits and tends to grow tall/upright on a single stem while the Chico has more of a zig-zag bushy growth pattern and the fruit is rounder with a pleasant sweet & sour taste. Also nice one on the Lychee that is fruiting and will be the envy of other growers in Melbourne - I personally find it is worthy to pay a little extra to get a larger establish tree so that it has more of a chance to survive your cold temperate winter weather 🙂

Thanks heaps mate, I boughtthe jujube as a Li from a reputable seller snd upright form is better for my space but last years fruit resembled the Chico so I'll have to wait and see this year. Cheers

Great update! I’ve got a lot of the same trees but your a couple of years ahead I think. Kampong looks good, lychee is amazing, my persimmon has had a very quiet year too, only one fruit! But my tree is smaller. What do you feed your bananas?
@UrbanBounty
@UrbanBounty Жыл бұрын
Thanks mate. We put the bananas near our outdoor dining and cooking so we can throw all the green and vegetable offcuts under them, also mulched with sugar cane and about 3 heavy feeds of blood and bone every year.

That's the perfect garden you've created Paul. Black sapote can take full sun and unprotected cold at my place.
@UrbanBounty
@UrbanBounty Жыл бұрын
H George, thanks and yes regarding the black sapote at your house, I've always scratched my head about that because it's obvious yours are thriving in full sun but if I remove shade on mine they instantly lose all leaves and stems turn black. Maybe the variety.

Thank you very much. I've been thinking about this and it's a hard one to describe because it's not really a regime, I just do things as needed, if I see yellowing I'll add epsom salts, if I see a growth flush I'll add blood and bone. I could do some vids on individual plant types starting with avocado 🥑
