Love your garden. Very inspiring for me as I live in West Melbourne and wanted to have two avocado plants and, struggling to get it right and failed again and again. Should I plant in the pot after I buy from burnings or should I plant in the ground right away. Thanks

@@wanderwithoutwords gday, nice to meet you. You can plant in the ground so long as you give it adequate protection and site preparation. Build the area up high with quality soil and compost and take the time to cover the young tree in weather extremes of both heat and cold. While the trunk it green, protect from sun in a blue sky day above 32c. Any other other questions,ask any time. It saves having to start again 👌

I did obtain an imported copper fungicide to use here but it didnt seem to prevent the peach leaf curl on my trees. It has pretty much been banned in chemicals in Europe because of the excess build up of copper in soil and it's extremely toxic when the concentrations get too high. Apparently it's extremely toxic to earthworms which are of course our major friends in the soil and of course very toxic to birds and fish as well as beneficial insects. I'm kind of surprised its considered suitable for organic growing but who ever understands the ways of the world 😂

@UrbanBounty Ай бұрын
@@dougs_urbanfarm lol you are definitely not a weirdo mate, there are 365 days in a year and I reckon I tap my water tanks to check the level on about 300 days of the year. I'm not sure how copper works to kill fungus but it definitely irritates the skin when it touches but from memory it is classed as an allowable organic input. I just removed all the pepino because of fruit fly and even if the eggs do not turn to maggots, the bacteria still renders the fruit inedible. The plus side is that the awesome guabiju seedling you sent down years ago is now in full sun because until now it was always hidden by the pepino
