I have a 2019 Crosstrek and I couldn't get the back part of the seat to come out. It seems like those pins are too long to slide out of the sides, like i'd have to remove the plastic housing.. I slid it off the middle bolt like you showed.. Wondering if they changed something from 2017 to 2019?

Nevermind. I figured it out. I needed to remove the two bolts on the smaller section that connects it to the larger section, then was able to take out each side individually.

Thanks for the video. Is it possible to remove the backrest only and leave the lower bench portion intact?

Yes! Unfortunately, based on the order of removal, you'll have to take the lower seat cushion off to remove the backrest, then reinstall the lower seat cushion - But It can be done!

Do you know how much the seats weigh?

The rear seats are approx. 40 lbs total (10 lbs bottom cushion, 30 lbs backrest).
