SUBARU DRIFT BUILD |2| Ford 8.8 Mockup

In this episode of Dirtcheapdaily, Aaron explains how he'll convert his 2004 Subaru Legacy Outback to rear wheel drive. Going into detail about the rear end. We pull the subie rear sub frame, modify the Ford 8.8 rear differential to fit in it, and mock it up where it will have its permanent home!

Excuse me, as I am hacking away at my Mercedes R129 rear subframe to install this exact Ford 8.8 I couldn't help but notice you've trimmed a bit of the front fins around the front sensor and seem to have a block off plate. I am in the market for the very same thing. Did you make this yourself? TIA

Doing great still. I’ve had major issues with a bunch of other things with the car because I beat on it pretty hard, but never had any issues with the engine or turbo setup

How much PSI of boost do you recommend on a stock engine? and if i go a stage 2 or 3 tune would that be beneficial to the turbo?

I wouldn’t go over 8psi on the stock tune. If you’re tuning it, you should be able to tell from the data logs how much is safe. I don’t know what stage 2 or stage 3 mean

Should use the irs out of a mustang gt u can get the whole assembly subframe and everything for like 500

I thought about doing that, but I’d have to figure out upper spring perches. Or I guess I could just run a coilover strut. Where can you get them for $500? The cheapest I could find when I looked early on was like $900

Dirtcheapdaily eBay whole complete a 373 gear set is 900.. their is different gear ratio 331 and 318 whole complete rear end just look the one I seen was 499 .. it’s about scoring the unit u can always change what gear ratios u want later me I want to run a six speed trans out of a brz and do the mustang rear end just got to notch the block for the starter if you look at the bolt pattern it’s the same but starter is on the other side still bolts up .. and I wish I had that short belt size for me from when u bypassed your ac unit those numbers would be helpful..

Dirtcheapdaily I just punched in mustang irs and scrolled down and several came up I personally wouldn’t worry over gear ratio until u have it in the car and know what your doing about the transmission.. just score the irs and go from there
