I just did mine on my car and my buddys, both 2011. Mines wrx his is sti. Our racks were identical. This one is different. We did ours without pulling the rack. We have a housing on the shaft that you can remove with 2 12mm bolts and expose the gaskets. These gaskets are different. Are you in the U.S?

If the fluid is leaking from where steering shaft can u just change the top seal and be good?
@TNALMotor72 жыл бұрын
Basically it works… but it also depend on your shaft condition.. if is too bad, even you change the top seal it also won’t last you very long.. hope I answer your question

if i just need the seal kit mentioned in the above comments, do you think the replacement would be possible with the rack still installed in the car??

It is possible to get it done on rack.. but it will be very hard for the process..

is it possible if the valve is clogged by crushed debris from the vanes (rotor blade) of the power steering pump? because my car after changing the power steering it doesn't feel as light as before, and turning right is heavier than turning left. This incident occurred when the propeller was installed incorrectly by a fake mechanic when changing the pump seal, in the end I had to replace the entire pump, but after changing the pump it felt like the steering wheel was not as light as before. anyone understand and can provide input or help?

Hello there, base on your description, there’s a possibility of the air is trapped in the steering pump which happened to us before, so if this is the case… you can try jack up your car… start the engine… slowly turn left to the max, then wait for awhile…. follow by turn to the right to the max… continue this process for few times… see it will release the remaining air or not…. hopefully this will help you up!!!

I also had this issue with new rack: turning left is harder than turnung right (left hand drive model). According to subaru service manual, the different should be less than 20% (while testing the rack on the "table" (not in the car with engine running!)). But after ~300km I almost don't feel the different.

@TNALMotor72 жыл бұрын

Doesent look much harder than rebuilding a hydraulic cylinder. To anyone attempting this put your seals in hot water they are much mpre malleable
@MrShaneo3693 жыл бұрын
Can you post the parts and their numbers
